I have 4, two of the older models and two of the newer. Both models are of very good quality. However the newer model has a better handle. Its fatter and grippier. The newer model sheath is shorter but fits the same. The sheath is adequate. I’m happy they spent the money on the knife rather than a leather sheath. This review is for the 4” blade. If you want a nice Buck sheath for it, the sheath for the 4” Buck Vanguard fits. I bought these for my backpacks and prefer the lighter nylon sheaths.

Bought this for my nephew for his first deer hunting trip. He ended up getting a deer and immediately called me to tell me that the knife was perfect for what he needed. It’s very sharp and it wasn’t overly heavy. He told me that the grip was perfect for his hand size for reference he’s around 6 ft tall

I originally bought the large version then I purchased the small. Both are fantastic knives. Extremely ergonomic, extremely sharp, and extremely easy to maintain. The large version reminds me of the tops silent hero 4 (obviously not as nice overall), but 4x less expensive and no less useful. The small version is a handy size as well. These are very good crossover knives that can handle multiple role’s. They do what knives are supposed to do in my opinion… cut well and be easy to maintain. The sheaths are fine, this is not a fancy knife just a very useful one.

Extremely sharp. Good steel. My only nitpicks: it’s a tad thin, for hardcore outdoorsman I’d recommend something a little more robust. Also the sheath is quite serviceable, but nothing fancy. The belt loop seems a little tight.

Buck has something special with this design: The blade design, rubber grip, grip angle and balance, are everything one could want in the perfect hunting knife for field dressing small game. Processing would require something different, however. The blade is a softer steel and so doesn’t hold an edge long, but it takes less effort to sharpen. It’s a good inexpensive utilitarian piece for small game. I’d recommend a harder blade of the 662 Alpha Pro for deer, elk, bear, etc., but that’s also gonna run you $200.

For the price, design, small game utility and accepting you’ll need to sharpen after each use, it’s 4 stars (the case is also very utilitarian and lacks any sort of refinement.) If you want something with better scales, harder steel, and a leather case, you’ll have to pay 10X for it.

I have a lot of knives. Love Buck brand. This is a perfect knife for me. Just the right size. Thinner blade. Tacky grip. Sharpens to near razor. Not too big. Not too small. Nice sheath. Definitely going to buy a few more. Not too expensive. Small size makes it concealable. Thin blade gives it penetration. Wide blade makes for good slicing skinning. Good steel. Perfect

So, if you hunt and skin your deer or hogs like I do you know that having a good knife to with a good grip is the only thing that matters when gutting. You don’t want a knife to slip in your hand when you’re up to your elbow in guts and blood, The small blade makes it very easy to work around things you don’t want to cut when gutting. It’s not the most expensive knife but at the same time it’s not made cheap. The grip is very good, and does not slip when holding, and the working end keeps sharp when using it.

Good value knife if you can get it for a low price.
Plastic/rubber-ish handle and the blade is a little bit scratched from factory.
I would not recommend this as a collection knife but a use only knife.

Got this one for 20 Euro from Amazon and it was money well spent!
