I had to write a review because of the negative ones… this bench is awesome, hands down.. It’s definitely made for someone more 5″10′, but it 100% works, and… being a bigger guy (6″4′), I actually like that it is smaller, easier to move from room to room. But most importantly, EVERYTHING works, I don’t know how in yoda’s name anyone can’t make the fly’s work… and the thigh section is great too, you just have to move/sit back if you’re taller, and the curl is solid too.

Pros: I like having everything in one place. It does what I need it to do; purchased used-like new & it’s decent for the price (but a brand new one would have been less frustrating to put together)

Con: instructions are annoying; the rack is not adjustable; a bit annoying that the bench is fixed to the rack & cannot be separated; instructions to assemble were not to scale & did not use common sizing. There was a ruler printed on the same page as the images of all the nuts & bolts…but the ruler was also not to scale (and therefore useless). No clear picture of each piece, so while I knew I was missing some hardware going in, I didn’t know I was missing other things (like one of the black knobs for arm pieces).

Things I didn’t realize / thought were different: the arm & leg pieces are only for 1″ weights; you cannot adjust the height of the bar rack; no safety to catch the bar if dropped; the seat back lays flat & has 2 elevated angles (no decline angle); cannot use as a squat rack because the bench cannot be moved and the rack is not reversible

For full disclosure, I am not a gym head or professional body builder; I am a casual exerciser who wants to workout at home. I bought this to replace an older “higher end” brand of weight bench, and I really do like it so far. The ONLY thing I had to get used to is the butterfly handles, as they are not a stationary handle grip like my old bench, but it still works. Just gets some getting used to. I did build this myself in about an hour, but it would definitely be easier with 2 people. I just had to use what I had nearby to help keep things upright while I attached the pieces, but when I did, it was a good, quality build and so far it’s a pretty decent bench that does what I want it to. I did have to buy new weight bars but that’s no big deal, I was going to do that anyway. The brackets (or whatever they’re called) were too wide for my old bar so the bar wouldn’t sit, but like I said, I’m glad I bought a new bar for it. Overall, a pretty decent bench for the price range and very sturdy and comfortable. I like it

I’m a Senior on SS and ordered this bench to get back to working out! It’s perfect for My needs, low cost with the features I need. When the bench arrived, the carton was damaged and the main back cushion was ripped and the curl pad was cut.. With NO HASTLE at all, I contacted Marcy and they immediately shipped new cushions that arrived within days. Thanks to Cesary B. for prompt resolution!!

Cool and cool looking, works great nice and sturdy for the price. I Recommend a 72โ€ bar, the 60โ€ is too small/narrow and hands/web can get pinched when putting the bar back on the up rights.

I just needed a bench because the old one for my smith machine wore out. I had seen thus model when it came out ten years ago and always wanted to try it since it was so cheap.

The Sports Authority had one set up and it seemed OKAY. I really liked the chest fly even though I prefer doing it with dumbells. Well this unit does not serve my needs. I would be better spending the money on just a bench. This had a preacher curl similar to my old bench but is no where need as good.

    1. Goes together easy and is solid. Only plus.

    2. The bench press uprights are to narrow. They hold the barbell where you need to grip. This forced you to do either a wide grip or narrow grip. Narrow grip is preferable given the choices but this is aggravating that neutral grip is impossible.

    3. The preacher curl does not allow full range of motion to the top. My old one did. This prevents getting the critical last few inches to flex out the biceps. It stops short by hitting the pad and blocking the bar from being pulled closer. This is a superficial workout.

    4. The right chest fly on mine has a defect. The threaded insert is not welded correctly so it rubs when rotated. The left one is done correctly and seems high quality. Problem is the handles do not have enough length to engage the chest. My arms are bent to close to the chest. This makes the shoulders do all the work and defeats the point as it is horrible biomechanics and terrible lifting form. This will cause an imbalance in the anterior deltoid which I already have. I think this can be fixed by adding chains or Garry rigging cables with handles and using it that way but do not want to bother.

Final thoughts: It failed at barbell press, chest fly, and preacher curl. I and 5’6″ and it feels too small for me. I might have been able to use this when I was 12. The leg things are wimpy as expected and I did not test them. 3 stars would be generous, 2 stars realistic but no more. While the concept is brilliant on paper it fails to execute. If they made a wider one with better functioning and build quality that met my needs priced around $600 they would have a winner. I am just going to stay far away from this brand and do push-ups and calisthenics until I can afford quality.

This is a nice, compact bench that feels very sturdy. It’s a breeze to assemble with the excellent instructions and well organized nuts & bolts.
Two things come up a little short: One is the width of the main rack posts – they are a little close together for my 6′ self. When I lay back and grab the bar, my hands want to go right where the posts are located. Since I only do lighter reps with the bar, it’s not a problem. But if you were maxxing or power lifting, it could be a problem since I reposition my hands right where the brackets are so I can’t really set the bar down without jumping my hands out of the way.
The other is the threaded locking pin for the curl support. It’s very hard to reposition it for different height users and having it be a threaded handle seems unnecessary. I ordered a spring-loaded locking pin and plan to drill new holes to create both more heights to set it at and easier access to the pin.
The only other shortcoming is the padding is a bit thin, especially on the curl pad, and typically requires a thick towel to help soften it up.
But at this price (~$140) it’s a real bargain if you’re looking for a slightly compact yet very sturdy bench.

I am a smaller 5’7 guy, knowing I am small bought this expecting it to fit me well. In honesty, it is not bad but to gain full range of motion, you will need to modify a few things. The range of motion out of the box is designed for someone under 5 feet tall, but with modifications I can see it working for someone up to 5’10. 6ft or over, you will need to keep shopping, sorry.

I bought this one on a flash sale at about 160$ after taxes. I wanted it as a second bench for incline bench as well as a leg workout machine with bicep curl functionality. I will break down my review for each of the 5 workout types

Bicep curl: works fantastic. No complains whatsoever and has two or 3 adjustable heights.

Leg curl (quads) – This one is my major complaint. There are several major problems out of the box. Firstly, the foam cushion meets at the centre shaft of my lower leg, causing immense pain when lifting heavy weight (over 100lbs) so to fix this, I grabbed a foam roller and placed it under my thighs when I workout, this elevates my knees by about 4 or 5 inches, making it possible to gain full range of motion at the ankles as well as to eliminate the pressure on my legs. Second, you must also remove the arm rest pad, place the seat somehow in an upright position (see video). If you have long legs, it may not work for you. See my video again. The biggest inconvenience though was how flimsy the wood is for the lower bench seat. Immediately after doing 2 or 3 reps at 100lbs I started to hear the wood cracking. To fix this, I had to cut out sheet metal that I salvaged from scrap metal laying around, I drilled holes and cut it to shape to support the wood of the lower bench seat. The lower bench seat is made of some fibreboard wood and started cracking immediately as the design is fraud. There is no other way… unless you wish to lift only 50lbs or less with this leg machine setup. Very disappointed that they could not have included metal plates to support the lower seat.. it is a major design and engineering flaw.

Leg curl (hamstrings): No complains either, works great out of the box but you will need to remove the arm rest pad for the bicep curl out of the way when working out.

Chest flys: The grip at the handlebar is way too close to the chest to get proper range of motion (ROM), you will need to grip at the farthest point or extend the main metal shaft somehow while removing the handles… The handles are terrible and limit your ROM to half (unless of course you have dwarf limbs, then it would work perfect for you out of the box).

Bench press: Works great but the incline is a little shallow, I would recommend either placing it over a few blocks of wood or welding on another stud to gain 45 degree incline. Also, I would put rubber grips on the metal support beam that fits under the bench because sadly it pops off very easily. I had spare ones from other machines in my gym so I put fresh rubber grips on both end of the bench support bar. All in all, not bad considering I only paid 160$.

Very good bench. sized to fit most workout areas. Very sturdy, strong welds. Seat and back have just the right padding and appear to have good durability. The only suggestion I have is when you assemble this, the moving parts I suggest you add a lubricant (light grease) which will make it quieter and move without wearing. I added a rubber to the stop bar at the leg press where it rests at the frame to make it quiet. This was just a rubber 1″ round table leg cap (comes in 4 packs).
The only real con about this is the 3 feet of the bench are a molded steal without any protection for your flooring which it is mean to go on a rubber mat flooring. Do not use foam, best is to buy a rubber mat that is 4’x6’x 1/4″ this will secure the bench from moving and protect your flooring plus helps to dampen noise which is what you need in an apartment.
