NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP Butter Gloss Lip Gloss – Pack Of 3

I own three colors now—Tiramisu, Crème Brulée, and Strawberry Parfait. I have cool toned light skin, and somewhat darker lips, and each of them is perfect on me in its own way. If I had space in my bathroom and my wallet, I’d probably own twelve more shades—almost every color in the range is so gorgeous, I can never decide which to buy next.

Gloss facts:

1. These are somewhat glossy, but not a disco-ball shine. In other words, very wearable.

2. They are a little sticky, as all glosses are, but not at all the kind that jam your lips together or leave gross threads when you open your mouth. You’ll know it’s there, and no more.

3. Related to that last point—they cover, and therefore protect from winter wind and cold or summer heat, but I wouldn’t say they’re hydrating beyond that. I feel more hydrated when I have a lipstick that moisturizes below them, rather than on their own (but I use these both ways).

4. They have beautiful colors—did I mention that I want to own SO many more than I can right now?—and they are pigmented enough to wear on their own, but sheer enough to complement or alter a lipstick underneath, as well. In my opinion, that’s the sweet spot for lip gloss. Crème Brulée, in particular, is a wonderful brightener for the center of the lips if you have a nude lipstick underneath; Tiramisu, on my somewhat darker natural lip color, adds a “your lips but better” tint and sheen that I can’t get enough of, when worn alone, and also makes a great neutralizing topper… I’m on my third Tiramisu since I discovered it (only a year ago!… not available at my local stores, so I never saw it until I heard about it online and ordered it here).

5. They last… about as well as any, I’d say. Probably need to reapply once an hour or so, or after eating.

6. Yes, they do have a flavor. And they are yummy. Of course, don’t nibble your lips, but yummy flavors sure beat chemical ones in something that will be on your lips all day.

7. Value for money in terms of color and performance is great!! These stack up against any other drugstore-priced lip gloss and basically win the day.

8. My one real negative would be that the package (vial? tube?) doesn’t seem to last very long. I don’t know ounces-to-ounces how they stack up with others… just haven’t researched that. But the package seems about the same size as any other drugstore lip gloss… and I get the feeling that there is more product in the (opaque) tube in some inaccessible area when I can’t get any more out, because if I try scraping the sides I sometimes do, sometimes don’t still get a bit more squeaked out… so it seems like there either should be more or maybe is more, but I can’t get more out, and I feel like that happens pretty quickly. I’ve had other “holy grail” glosses like Tiramisu in the past, that were my constant companions, but I don’t think I’ve ever gone through three so fast. (And I *will* buy more—so just know that this one negative isn’t stopping me from loving the product!) No data to back me up, just a long history of wearing lip gloss and my instinct, so I could be wrong—but with all this raving about how much I LOVE NYX Butter Gloss, I thought I should mention my one caveat, too.

Love this lip gloss. The color ( madeleine mid tone-nude) that I ordered is very natural looking. It goes on really smooth and is not sticky or have a weird taste like some lip gloss has. The price was great and so is the product. Just what I wanted.

This is the best lip gloss I’ve ever used!!!!! It’s a perfect shade. It applies just like butter!!!!!!!! It’s really a comfortable wear. It stays on a while. A really great buy!!!
