I love the look and the size of this feeder. We border woods on 3 sides, so we have many feather buddies to treat. This time of year, through April, we fill our open feeders every day. This mesh feeder, as well as the manufacturer ball mesh feeder, holds much more black oil sunflower seed – so less work for us. I hung this feeder yesterday, and have had 2 to 4 birds on it at the same time. They are sharing and playing nice! It would be nice to have this feeder in other colors too! We clean our feeders often, depending on rain/humidity. If you read a review that states it gets moisture on the bottom, well Yah – it is an outside feeder. Do not put out feeders unless you have time to maintain them. Also, ours came with a lid. So no problem there. Enjoy!

This bird feeder is a clever design and looks cute. The top of the mushroom is a nice size so it covers the seed to keep it dry from the rain. The metal cover turns and fits into metal slots at the top of the seed holder piece. That is where the problem arises. After only one week, the metals slots started to open up and become loose. To make sure it stayed in, we would give it a tight turn to ensure the metal “spokes” stayed inside the grooves. Only small birds such as chickadees, titmice, nuthatches, and finches used the feeder – usually one bird at a time – so no worries about too much weight pulling on it. However, one morning we found the feeder on the ground with all the seed spilled out. The bottom of the feeder got crushed in the fall. Using a pair of pliers we tightened the metals holders on the cover. That seemed to work, but we could not straighten out the bottom, which wasn’t too much of an issue as the seed still fit. We tighten the grooves periodically to keep things fitting properly
Overall, it is a decent enough feeder and looks very nice in the garden.

The polar bear mentioned below did not fair as well, but this mushroom one has done very well for us. We use it year-round, and it’s not protected at all. No rust and the birdies still enjoy dining on it.

I got one of these (the polar bear) through the Vine program, and I liked it so much I bought this one on my personal account. The all-mesh design is quite thoughtful, allowing more than one bird to feed at a time. On this particular shape, I wanted the larger lid to protect the seeds a bit more, so I can put it out on the back deck where there is no protection from elements.
It’s not as large as the polar bear, but it’s still a respectable capacity (and on the deck will make it easier for me to reach to refill, in our case).
– Ran my hands over the mesh and didn’t find a single snag.
– It’s flat bottomed so can sit on something if you prefer not to hang it.
– The hanger is a thin steel cable that feels coated in plastic, secured to the lid by a simple bolt.
– The lid itself secures with a simple 3-prong twist type thing – get the prongs in the slats for it and twist.
It’s kind of surprising to me to be so impressed by “just” a bird feeder. I certainly didn’t expect to be. But I just am, these are that neat.

This is a good addition to our yard. We love to watch the birds and squirrels eat from it. If you buy it you will need sunflower because any small seed will not work with this. Besides the birds like the sunflower seeds better. The sunflower seeds without shells don’t work either you need to have the ones with the shells. That works perfectly in this. It has not faded in color or rusted and it has been out there for about a year or so. It is bigger than I thought it would be when I bought it. But I like that it is bigger. I just expected it to be smaller cause of the price. The animals love it. We like it. Didn’t cost much. Good deal. Some of the seed does fall out but to us that doesn’t matter we let the bunnies and squirrels get whatever falls on the ground. I will say though not much falls out of it unless the squirrels get on it and shake it around. The squirrels don’t hurt this thing. It is really tough. Some sort of metal. Unbreakable I think at least for the animals.

I love this cute birdfeeder. Looks sharp too. The birds love it. I’ve found if I pack the seeds too tightly, the birds cannot pull out the seeds that well. So, NP. Just drop in the sunflower seeds w/o compacting and have happy birds! There was one problem that I fixed w/o delay. The drainage holes at the very bottom of the birdfeeder are too sparse. Birds don’t like soggy moldy seeds nor do I. So I merely drilled lots of new holes but small holes so that the seeds would not drop out. All in all, it’s a great feeder. I was hoping that it was available in more colors other than the blue which I already bought through amazon a few years back. So, yeah, it’s lasted in great condition (including the new holes at the bottom which I added) for more than 2 or so years! Well, maybe I’ll buy another blue one and spray paint it or simply hang another blue one. Eh.

I have purchased so many bird feeders over the past few years to put out in my yard and this is by far the best one so far. Here is what makes its so great.
1. The birds seem attracted to it. The first day I put it up had many birds visit. They seem to like that they have to peck the seeds out of the holes. Multiple birds can easily feed from it at the same time.
2. Minimal waste. Many of the other feeders that I have had easily drop seed onto the ground. This one does not. There is the percent amount released onto the perch . There is way less seed being spilled on the ground which means I am saving on seed as well as less weeding !!
3. Keeps the squirrels out. I have not had great luck with other feeders ans squirrels they always seem to find a way in. Not this one ans I have had it up for a full year with no squirrels having success
4. Durable. I have now had this out for two winters ans summers ans it looks the same as the day I bought it. The hanger is very sturdy, no paint is chipping off the metal. So I am pleased.

I love this bird feeder but bought it because it said squirrel prove. Well I must say it most certainly is not. They have even taken the top off and put their head inside. I was mad at myself for not taking a picture. I had to wire the top to the handle. Very frustrating.

I received this feeder a few days ago and filled it up today, and hung it in a tree. It seems like a sturdy metal feeder and very easy to open/close the top to fill it. The only part of the feeder that is not metal is the “drawstring” type closure for the lid, but the plastic it is made of feels sturdy.
I put sunflower seeds without the shell in the larger mesh side. And nyjer mixed with millet in the smaller mesh side, from my local bird feed store.
The feeder comes with a plastic coated steel cable with a loop at the end to hang it by. It does not come with a hook to hang with. I used a big plastic carabiner to hang it on a branch by the cable loop. Overall very impressed and happy with the quality and size of this feeder for about $24! Hoping it holds up well season after season.
