Wendy Cernius –
The squirrels in my yard took a few looks at this and disappeared. Just by looking at it they knew they’d never get at its contents. Glad I bought this as said squirrels took off with my former bird feeder. Seriously, they ran off with the whole dang thing. Sneaky little #%}{%!

Excellent bird feeder and amazing customer service. I had a slight problem with mine and they replaced it immediately. Nice to have good service !

These feeders are a little more time consuming to clean but well worth the extra effort. They do keep squirrels out as anything heavier than a bird that gets on it will pull the cage down to block access to the feeding ports. These feeders are attractive and very well made. Do not rust and last a long time. The birds in my yard flock to them and the squirrels (which I also feed) have not been able to get into them. The only (possible) downside is that experts recommend not using feeders with anything sharp on them that could injure a bird. The leaves on these feeders have sharp and pointy edges but in all the years I’ve been using them I have not witnessed or seen any evidence of a bird being injured by them. Birds sit on the perches and eat. I’ve never seen them anywhere else on the feeder.

Squirrels just have to take one look at this feeder and their faces just say ‘can’t be bovvered!’ It IS squirrel proof and large bird proof, along with being very attractive. It’s a lot larger than I expected but that save me from filling it too often. It’s a relatively expensive product but as the seeds last so much longer, I’m sure I will be saving money in the long run. I do like to feed all birds and these thieves have not neglected!

Worked great, for six weeks. That is how long it took the squirrels to chew through the plastic seed holders, despite the anti-squirrel screen. We filled it two days ago and today the feeder was empty. We went out to refill, thinking we had a lot of birds, and found one of the brown plastic coverings where the seed is accessed chewed up and barely hanging on to the feeder, and the other was on the ground, leaving it impossible to use the feeder. I checked – sadly, there is no warranty. This feeder was wonderful while it lasted, but six weeks for a supposedly “squirrel proof feeder” is not acceptable.

Right about the time the Perky-Pet company stops supporting this item is the time the squirrels have destroyed this. They first start by taking the top off and chewing the plastic bits on the inside. If the metal lid did a slightly better job of locking, this wouldn’t be a problem. But that really doesn’t affect the functionality, right. Then they attack the plastic food openings because those squares are enough to get their noses and teeth in. Why plastic? Should have been metal then it wouldn’t be a problem. Then they pull that mangled and destroyed plastic piece out and the feed spills out at that point. Perky-Pet customer service doesn’t carry parts or this product online so we’re out of luck. Their solution, throw it away and buy another. Thanks! :/

It’s an attractive feeder that does keep the squirrels away but I don’t see as many birds at that feeder as I do the other feeding stations.

Found it expensive but it works beautifully to keep the squirrels away.

I have two of these, one required some minor mods to keep it from jamming up. However this model does stymie the squirrels – they hang on it, their weight closes down the access openings, they try and try to get food and end up giving up and dropping off.

This worked great for several months. I watched squirrels try to hang upside down only to trigger the springs to close the ports. Unfortunately the ports are CHEAPLY made of plastic. Two things began to happen. The first is that the ports would fall off or dislodge and jam the closing capability. I fixed that with super glue but, being plastic, the squirrels have eventually started to destroy the port (plastic rim) and the seed just falls out. I really like this feeder and the birds like it as well. I have another perky pet feeder which is totally squirrel proof but the birds don’t like it for some reason. If this had metal port trim, it would be great. As it is now… it is CHEAP and seems to last only a few months. I am continuing to use it, putting tape over the feeding holes that are defective and hoping to get a few more months out of it. My advise is to waste your money on this one since the plastic does not hold up. UPDATE…. The squirrels have chewed and destroyed two more of the plastic rims so I have thrown it out. Too bad because I didn’t see one squirrel successfully hang down and feed…it kept closing on them until they destroyed it.

It looks beautiful in the box , but the squirrels destroyed this feeder not worth the money, and definitely not squirrel proof.

We were very surprised at the large size of this feeder. However, we have this hanging from a post in the garden and although the squirrels can jump to the post as soon as they land on the feeder their weight pulls down the feeding traps and hey presto they cant get at the food. Some debris does fall out of the feeder, and these are the scraps that the squirrels are left with.
Fantastico!
