Michael Eley –
This book is an amazing resource that covers a lot of ground in potential modalities for self therapy, from shadow work and gestalt techniques to cognitive distortions and defusion, and much more. And while this is part of its great power – the range of techniques it catalogues – it is also a potential disadvantage. The speed at which the different techniques are covered gives the impression that they might be easy to implement. It starts with the simple idea of “become more self-aware,” and rapidly becomes quite complicated. If you follow the process it presents, it’ll take a long time to go through it all. It’s definitely a book that I’m going to go back to again and again.

It’s said that when the student is ready the teacher will appear. If you are ready to receive therapy and you’re not sure (or don’t want to pay for it) this is the book to start with. It explains different methods of therapy and how to do them on yourself. I found a few that I resonated with, but I didn’t with all of them. I think that’s normal, but good to see all the options. And the steps to go through for self analyzing is extremely helpful. The only difficulty I can see is, as the book points out, sometimes it’s hard to see things from your perspective, since it’s something that’s always been the way it is, in our opinion, we don’t or can’t see it.. The author talks about using a scientific method to discover some of the things that you may be suffering from. Excellent idea. For myself I found that I suffered from certain things, but there was no way I was going to see it without talking to a trainer professional. It took me years to find someone, but it’s just like the things in this book. (Until then I thought it was all voodoo and so the therapist could make a good living) You can use what you find most useful, and forget the rest. If you’re looking to start therapy and want to know what it’s all about, or maybe how you can do it yourself to start, this is definitely the book to get. I thoroughly enjoyed it because it really made me think about things from a different point of view. In other words, my self talk has been going poorly for years and I never new. This book helps point you into the right direction to figure things out that you may not even realize are going on inside your head.

Other books give a lot of non-useful, meaningless information whereas this one goes straight to the point: it is clear, direct and mostly helpful, because it is easy to put into practice. I recommend it. // otros libros hablan mucho y no dicen nada, este es claro, directo y fácil de poner en práctica

Not many self help Books offer laymen friendly steps that can be implemented for self discovery of the inner self! This author beautifully outlines techniques and proven practices which allow an individual to “REPROGRAM” ones past negative and limiting belief’s accumulated over time through life experiences! It all begins with recalling and recognizing past fragmented wounds then interpreting & burying them as part of the past with the reprogramming of the malleable brain to create positive fibers between your emotional and reasoning portions of the brain. By doing so humans, unlike other animals are able to take control of their thoughts and bypass past fight or flight alarm systems which are NO LONGER valid and no longer represent a threat. Instead, humans, unlike other animals can redirect the brain to focus on the positive lessons learned from those past negative experiences, rather than ruminate and be defined by those past ACEs (Adverse Childhood & adolescent Events). By Diffusing negative thoughts stemming from shame, guilt, and criticism we. An teach our brains to dissolve the toxic thoughts our ruminating brains would otherwise marinate in!
The key is for our mind sight to dwell on the positive outcomes from lessons that teach and enlighten us. Replacing negative with positive attitudes gives us hope and security and the ability to be in charge of our minds, body and souls!

This book has been amazing to read. I really enjoyed it. There are four parts to this book. Each one goes into detail. It explains how to manage your stress, anxiety, and your thoughts and emotions. The best parts I liked in this book was Caring and loving in a special way my inner child. Meditation, on how to let go of my thoughts With Visionary way to do this with leaves floating down a quiet stream. This meditation was very relaxing, and I did feel better after doing it. It was explained very well in the book how to meditate . Also, there was a part if you’re depressed, then start being active it had helped me from becoming more depressed. I found that to be true. This is truly a good book. I plan to keep it and use it for further references.

I can’t express with words how much I loved reading this book and how much it has helped me. It really gets you to understand your self and I really loved the concept of ”self-therapy” totally agree. Please read this book.

The book itself kept losing pages as I read it. This put a bit of a damper on the book-reading experience. The concepts are super simple but are useful nonetheless. If you ever took a psychology class or read a self-help book, you have probably already learned most of the strategies in this book.
