A woman had an nde in the mid 1800s and wrote about it. The language was updated so it’s understandable to these days. Her nde follows Bible teachings which enhance the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The story itself want as interesting to me as others I’ve read. It’s well written however and has references to the scriptures.

I have read many NDEโs (Near Death Experiences) books. I have read books speaking about heaven. I have read any and all passages referring to heaven in the Bible. All of it is intriguing and causes the mind to reel. However, this book; โNine Days in Heavenโ is quite different. In its rewriting thankfully, from the original language used from the 1800โs, the depictions of both heaven and hell are breathtaking, entrancing and will absolutely cause you to gasp and cry.
I could not put my phone down as I read through my kindle app. But I did put it down as the imagery conveyed is too great to handle in one sitting.
I have been a Christian going on 14 years this upcoming July (2023), and I have found myself over the years wondering about heaven and the highest heaven. Wondering about how the everlasting would be. From dreams and visions I have been given, from books read, from thoughts pondered with my imagination stretched as far as it could go, never could I have envisioned what Marietta Davis was given. What was bestowed upon her is not to be envied for it does not come to her for mere entertainment. For who amongst us could handle all that she was made privy to? It was by Godโs grace that such scenes did not consume her and when she returned back to her mortal state not end up in a home for the insane.
This book; this reading, this measure of grace in the form of seeing the unseen and going from mortality to immortality, has me rejoicing in the Lord and praising Him all the more.
This book in a sense served as a filling in the gaps when reading certain things in the Scripture and wondering what else was spoken and what else was going on. Once you read โNine Days in Heavenโ you will realize, now this makes all the more sense.
It is not too much to say that whatever we think of the Gospel narratives and that of the New Testament and of the Prophets, pales in comparison to what was fully goin on to bring about such writing concerning such glorious events. The Word of God in all His fullness and all that He has done and made available to mortal sinful man, is incomprehensible and the Prophet Isaiah had it right when he conveyed the will of the Lord in wordsโHis ways and thoughts are higher than ours. Indeed as high as the heavens are from the earth so are His ways and thoughts. Halleluyah and Amen! Blessed be the glorious eternal and majestic name of the Lord forever and ever who is Christ our Redeemer and Savior. Amen.

I found the time this book was written and how the woman passed on the day she said she would, very interesting. The parts about seeing Jesus and his betrayal and such seemed to be literally out of the Bible/Gospels. Therefore, the 3-star rating.

Nine Days in Heaven, updated for readability by Dennis & Nolene Prince, does its best to stay true to the 1848 vision of Marietta Davis. Her vision was dictated to and recorded by Marietta’s pastor,John L. Scott, entitled Scenes Beyond the Grave. The Princes were given this book after two of their babies passed on, and upon reading it, gave them much comfort knowing that God has their babies, and everyone/everything else, in His hands.
First, the vision is amazing. Some parts are a revelation and humbling in its presentation. But there are still some parts that are hard to digest simply because it’s just not within our realm of reason. But, if you know God, you know that He does not operate within *our* realm of reason. Look at John 3:16 to prove that statement. It never really crossed my mind what God would be doing in Heaven. I simply thought He was worthy of praise and therefore, everyone up there was praising Him. But this vision, shows that God is always at work. He employs angels in their various tasks, each division of angels doing different tasks, education is still happening up there, and of course, worship. This makes sense to me, at a school, not everyone is a principal; there are teachers, secretaries, aides, students, and other people that make the school function properly and with a purpose. Sin has so destroyed our lives, that thinking of how life would be like without sin, as God has it in Heaven, is too difficult to comprehend.
Second, I find that this vision is Biblically sound in that it presents to the reader exactly what the Bible presents: God, the Lord Creator, is incredibly gracious and loving that He reconciled the lost mankind through His Son, Jesus. And that salvation is found through simple faith in Jesus Christ, a gift through His sacrifice. Not religion, not hymns, or regular attendance to church.
I find this book to be spiritually uplifting, bringing the proper praise and focus where it belongs – to God.
Without the Princes re-writing this for the modern reader, I would have never picked up this book and that would have been my loss.
