A very fitting end to the first half of the Stormlight Archives. Insanely wild ride from start to finish and sticks the landing.
Fernanda Paredes –

The storytelling is fantastic as always. Sanderson can create a story and pull you in like no one else before him.
Unfortunately, he also gets caught up in his own stories and sometimes he drags them out far more than is necessary. This creates a serious slog for any reader to get through his books. It’s always worth it, but it’s not always fun.

I don’t have any words. My jaw was dropped the entire time reading this book. An absolute work of art and an absolutely beautiful and astounding ending to the first half of the Stormlight Archive. We’ll have roughly 9 more years before book 6…. which is terrifying to think of. 10/10

…which was majority of this book. I might not reread this book again. Brandon, if you’re reading this, kindly avoid theology, thank you.

Que livro!! 🥹
Fechamos aqui o primeiro arco com um final épico!
A continuação parece que sai em 20233 e eu não sei como sobreviver até lá.

I’m a huge reader, Probably 2-3 books a week. Sanderson, admittedly, is one of my favorite authors due to his unique writing style and worlds.
This book blows anything away that he’s written in my opinion! There are 3 main point of views you follow through this book and they change up pretty darn often which keeps the pace moving pretty quick. I remember seeing that I was only 20% of the way through the book and I couldn’t believe how hooked I was and how much was happening already. Brandon has a way of being a little sloggish in the Stormlight Series… NOT in this book. The pacing is perfect.
There is a lot of introspect in this book. A lot of self discovery, but it’s not boring – it’s tied together with constant happenings. None of it feels forced and some of it is a bit surprising. You have to actually think about the whole book to even realize it’s surprising because of how well it’s done. You will see some people completely different at the end of this book. One in particular, in my opinion.
I laughed out loud plenty of times. I sat on the edge of my seat plenty of times. I thought I had it all figured out plenty of times (I was right about a couple of things throughout the book). In typical BS fashion Brandon tosses ya a few things that are almost impossible to feel out even though he does foreshadow here and there. You have to realize he loves a fake foreshadowing as well though.
Overall, this is my favorite book I’ve read of his. It brought so much together, elightened quite a bit, and really has me wondering what’s happening next. VERY hard to try to figure out. But I CANNOT wait to see.
One note: As usual, you don’t need to read the rest of the cosmere books for this, but oh boy if you do it’s a lot more fun (at least I think it would be since I have). No matter what, get this book!

Minor Spoilers
I read an article that Sanderson was worried that he’d finally lose us with this one. At the time I thought maybe the lore was too much to follow, which has been a risk as the Cosmere of it all has blossomed.
The problem wasn’t that. It wasn’t anything. Sanderson did just the right amount of all the things: freshly-explained lore vs easter egg scenes vs true mysteries; triumphs vs failures; endings vs transformations, impacting major vs minor characters. It was a worthy continuation of what he started in book 1, and stretching back to the start of the Cosmere.
Some readers will wish things were different. More or less of certain characters or events, perhaps less of the foreshadowing that made certain reveals feel predictable, or even inevitable. I finished the book overwhelmed with relief that the author found this balance, and gratitude for the story he chose to share with us.
Shane to the B –
So many other great stories fall short when it comes time to cohesively tie off plot lines. True testament to Sanderson’s genius and hard work how things come together at the end of this arc. Loved every minute of the journey (small exception might be jasnahs battle of wits with Terrevangien which felt a little too contrived, but the fact that this relatively minor barb irked me just foils the greatness of everything else).

Brandon Sanderson delivers a relentless epic packed with unforgettable Sanderlaunches. The stakes are immense, the character growth is profound, and the twists keep coming in true Sanderson style. Every chapter propels the story forward, building to an explosive and satisfying finale. This is Sanderson at his absolute bes!
amazonianreviews –
The book was so involved and so expansive for the series. The character development just keeps on going and makes you love your favorite characters even more!
Maximilian Frerichs –
Great book, a lot of great development. A lot of questions answered and people guessed a lot right. This is not an end to the series though, though this ending redraws many of the conflicts in new ways.
Not quite a progression-fantasy book that many were hoping for either, but a step forward.
Eques Incognito 25 –
The book starts off a little slow, but becomes a constant roller coaster jumping from POV to POV developing multiple story lines simultaneously on a bigger level than any other of Brandon’s books in the series. The results of every major conflict are heavy and will greatly impact the future of all of his books. This was an incredible ending to the first five books of the Stormlight Archives. I can’t believe there’s not going to be another books for years, I really can’t wait.
