This movie was entertaining from the first minute to the last and a treat for all family members, regardless of age. I thoroughly enjoyed this the first time I saw it in the theaters, and now am proud to own a copy so that I can visit Wonderland and its mad, totally bonkers residents anytime I choose.

Do yourself a favor and follow the white rabbit down the rabbit hole!

I decided to read this little book due to some recent questions that I was having about perception and reality. With so many AIW references in “The Matrix” and other discussions about who and where we are, I decided to go down this rabbit hole (sorry, I had to do it) and revisit this classic. I have to admit, I had never read this “real” version before, only the kiddie versions in school, as well as heard the story told to me or watched multiple cartoons and movies on this tale. So while I knew what it was generally about, was not quite sure what to expect on paper.

This particular book has two parts- Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. I found the first part deep, weird, philosophical, and taking many notes on some of the memorable quotes, situations, and contexts. In “Through the Looking Glass”, I found it harder to follow, and just let myself go with the story and its absurdity. I think that was the point, but while the story in the first part was better, there were specific scenarios that kept a reader in attention- for example the word games, number games, crazy puns, and weird questions or statements that sound so crazy, you can’t believe how realistic it is. So I would highly recommend this classic as a great story, or a possible window, if you will, into learning more about yourself, perceptions, and the “wonderlands” that you expose yourself to.

I am considerably past the ages “8 – 14” to whom this book is directed, but these are stories loved from a long-ago youth that provided me a trove of beautiful memories. I fell easily into the rhythm of the writing, and although my knowledge of the story lines remains quite strong I still found a few surprises awaited me.
I have as neighbours a couple young children (about 10 and 7) and decided to read the book to them over a period of several days. Not at all a surprise, they found Alice and friends absolutely enchanting, and to ensure their future enjoyment I will gift them a copy for their shared library this coming Christmas.
For young and old, this book is pure fun; sure to create (or rekindle) a treasure chest of memories.

The page edges at the top of the book were smashed and had to be ironed out/repaired.

I first read the Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass (Signet Classics) books as a child, armed with my own library card. Throughout that experience, I was simply delighted by the wonderfully colorful illustrations and the fanciful tales. There was no issue of digging for deeper implications, puns, or wordplay. I still recall my fascination with the nonsensical creatures, as well as with Alice’s adventurous dreamland.

As an adult, one can choose to delight in the obvious fantasy adventures or search for hidden meanings. Therefore, for the purpose of this exercise in which I foray into a reading challenge that will encompass these books and others that can be considered “retellings and sequels” or “literature with allusions and influences,” I am choosing to simply enjoy revisiting a childhood treasure.

In any case, the most important aspects of these books are the creatively developed characters, especially the portrayal of Alice as a curious child who is obviously intelligent with layers of common-sense and creativity. Just following the characters in their upside-down or backwards adventures can be enough to intrigue the reader. All the reader must do is suspend disbelief for the purpose of the reading experience, which is not such a departure from many reading or movie-going encounters.

I plan to reserve my searching for hidden meanings for the other books that I will be exploring in the upcoming weeks.

This book is obviously a classic that has stood up to the test of time–it should be no surprise that I am giving it five stars.

Ottima edizione di wonderland+looking glass con:
    -testo in lingua originale unabridged
-illustrazioni originali di Tenniel a colori
    -copertina rigida clothbound
    -pagine spesse, senza trasparenza

Formato tascabile. Lo stile della copertina e la finitura dorata delle pagine (presenti in tutta la collana Macmillan Collector’s Library), a mio gusto, sono perfette per i due racconti di Alice.

I was waiting for price to go down. For a while it was $26-$30 for bluray withOUT digital.
Lucky me, I got it for less than $7 this time and came in good condition(which rarely happens during international order). I wanted to buy Korean version with Korean Audio +Korean Subtitle. Disney has both on disneyplus. But it’s $40-$50 for the bluray that does NOT have Korean Audio.

I don’t know why disney will make it but not include in their bluray urghhhh. Korean Audio is superb and I like it more than the original English but oh well, I got this for $7 and finding myself some consolation

This review is specifically for the penguin hardcover cloth-bound classics edition (white with pink flamingos)!

Naturally, the tale of Alice in Wonderland (told in two books; Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass) is definitely a fun, unique tale that appeals to children and adults alike, so of course I wanted to own a quality copy of it! I like how this edition contains both books and is hardcover with a simple cover design that looks timeless and elegant on my bookshelf. The book is full of useful notes and information in edition to having the tale; plus it contains the classic illustrations too! The paper is very high quality, the printing very attractive, and overall it was well worth the $10 I spent on it. I thought it was such an attractive edition that I bought one for my sister, who is a collector of the various editions of this tale. I’ve no complaints except that I don’t really care for how rough the fabric is; it’s not very nice to hold in your bare hands in my opinion, and it makes a sound when it’s placed on the shelf next to other cloth-bound hardcovers from the penguin classics series, so those are two things to keep in mind. I personally would have preferred either a softer fabric or for the books to have been bound in hard-backed pleather.
