Very useful compendium of exercises.

Like it. Like how the pictures show you what the words are telling you to do. The food program is a BIG help. If you are looking to start or are a long time weightlifter, than this book is for you. Get the Hard Bound Covered Book. Paperback breaks down if you use the book allot like I do.

Hard Body Plan provides the information needed to not just get in shape, but to build muscle right where you want it. It is best for beginners or those that are getting back into weight lifting. It provides detail on techniques and how they will define specifics parts of your body: upper back, biceps, etc. It also provides information on diet and some recipes. Good quick go to book to get started on getting fit and in shape and build muscle.

Excellent book if your interested in working out plus dieting

Another good book by Men’s Health, great exercise programme, I completed the programme and got the results I hoped for. The only bad thing about the book is the diet is based on American products which is a bit of a pain.
One slight annoyance with the book is the layout. It could have been more concise and better organised. Overall a good book, as usual requires commitment and effort but after the 12 weeks I definitely got the results I wanted.

I bought this book for the diet and nutrition information. So far I have learned a few things about diet and meal timing. I will report back with my end results in a few weeks. So far I am 6’1″ 188 I am not really trying to pack on pounds but cut up and tone what I have.

This is a great book. I bought this book two years ago and have loaned it to several people over the years. I bought it when I was 320lbs and have used it to get under 200lbs for the first time since high school. This book is good information source for all skill levels. I now buy this book as a gift to all my out-of-shape friends. It is a wonderful place to start. All it takes is the knowledge in this book and heart.

Is definitely a bit outdated now, but was the first book I really followed when I seriously began working out. I really bought it for the nostalgia, but I did see fantastic results by taking the information it provides and creating a work routine and nutrition regiment. If you are just getting started with working out I would highly recommend this book. A huge selection of exercises and nutrition options. I suggest taking the information and tailoring it to what works for you and what you want to do (gain size, definition, etc.)

I recently bought this book in hopes of supplementing it with another Mens Health book, ‘The Testosterone Advantage’. First off, the book is nicely written and laid out. I agree ,though, with other reviewers who thought the book was nothing new and right from the pages of Mens Health. There are a lot of different exercises and a diet plan. The workout choices are great but I have yet to try the diet.
One reason I have not completely bought into the book is because many factors in this book completely contradict the previous book I have been using (The Testosterone Advantage). For instance this book advocates aerobic activity for fat loss. It also has a high carb to protein diet. The Previous book condemns aerobic work all through it and has a high protein, low carb diet. This and many other factors have left me in a world of confusion. You would think that two books endorsed by the same company with the same affiliations ( Lou Schuler) would have some sort of continuity. Wrong!!!Come on Lou, men wanting to get in shape need references they can count on.
This book will work and so will the other for the beginner or someone who is out of shape.
I have found both from personal experience and from friends that almost any diet and exercise routine will work in the early stages if they are adhered to. It is when you get past the the beginner stage that a regimine proves itself. Until Mens Health writers get on the same page, they will never truly advance past entry levels.
I have used the previous book and have lost a lot of weight. Twenty five plus pounds to date. If I had bought this book first I would say the results would have been similar. As I said almost anything will work in the early stages.
If you are a beginner buy it. Intermediate or advanced, forget it.

I first saw this book a Barns & Noble store which was more expensive. Since I looked at it there and briefly saw what it had as far as workout plans and details on diet plans it was very good in its explaination of everything, the pictures were great and since this was a gift to a friend who is a beginner in working out and trying to lose weight. I thought this would be a excellant book for him. He depended on me to do the research and I do think this is a great book for anyone who wants a detailed book on exercise routines and diet that will get you to your goals if you stick to the plan properly and are committed to a 5 day workout at least to get the results you need.
thank you
