I am among the lucky ones that got the entire series complete, without missing a DVD.
The packaging is not the ideal, the cover(front and back) are excellent and SCREAMS 1980s ALL OVER.
I knew that the packaging was going to be cardboard, but it will have to be ideal if they put this collection on 2 plastic cases.

and the internal DVD packaging was a simple to use cardboard stock sleeve card setup that hosts 2 discs on each card… ( No more fumbling with funky plastic cases that sometimes won’t release easily and make you think you’re going to crack the DVD in half!)
Episodes look great, too. Works for me.

Mine did not come in paper sleeves like some of the other reviews mention, they are in three very nice cases with plastic “pages” in the cases holding each of the discs inside. About four discs per season. Very pleased with the quality. My mom is a big Magnum fan and the channel she used to watch it on no longer airs it. So I got her the set so she can watch the series whenever she wants.

One of the best TV series of the 80s, maybe even the best. Packed in a weak cardboard package that started to fall apart as soon as I removed the plastic. The discs were placed in so-called cardboard pockets, 2 discs per pocket, so there are many of those pockets and they easily spread out of the package. And let me mention that even though the title of the product says region code free, at least the box I got is the region code 1 version.

Didn’t think I’d have shows like C.S.I. Magnum P.I. Breaking Bad Twilight Zone, etc but I do thanks to Amazon. I basically have my own station at home to watch. Rarely watch regular TV anymore.

This is an excellent Blu-ray edition of the original Magnum PI series. If you’re a fan of the show, it’s a must have. The quality of the Blu-ray is excellent. It is obviously an HD transfer from the original source tapes so this is the highest quality you’re going to get without digitally remastering and transferring from the original 35 mm negatives. I also have the complete series on DVD and there is no comparison, the Blu-ray is hands-down superior in picture quality and sound. Scenes are sharp and clear, and the colour is true and crisp, unlike the DVD which has oversaturated colours and artifacting due to high digital compression rate. The only picture grain you will see is in the darker scenes and that is film grain which is on the original negative, only digital remastering will remove that. The show is still in its original 4 x 3 format, which means they shot full frame 35 mm for broadcast unlike Seinfeld, which was shot for 16 x 9 and broadcast in full frame 4 x 3. That’s why if you see Seinfeld on reruns it’s full screen 16 x 9 and not cropped 4 x 3. Somebody was thinking ahead back then. Aside from the screen format and the fact that nobody in the show has cell phones and TVs are still CRT screens with rabbit ears, these are the only things that remind you that this series is almost 40 years old, it was that good. Well written and well acted, excellent character development. In my opinion don’t waste your time with the new reboot series it’s 2 dimensional compared to Tom Selleck’s Magnum PI.
