The movie of RBG as well as the book of her life story show such a wonderful example of a strong woman who decides her direction in life and works quite hard to make others’ lives benefit from the changes she creates. I’m sure she didn’t start out in her life to do what she has done, but she has certainly been a wonderful example for other women who have not been as strong and determined but learned from her to have a better impact by standing up for their beliefs. Not only is she an amazingly intelligent woman, but she has had such an overwhelming influence to so many women and our social attitudes to women through her determination and eloquence to present a firm yet not overwhelming approach that is so frequently missing from others who desire to make a difference but don’t quite know how to effectively do it. It is also phenomenal that she had a supportive husband through some social changes that certainly threatened many men’s sense of their self and how to be the kind of man who could survive and continue to have a wonderful relationship with a strong, intelligent, competent woman. I would love to hear her speak, and to also hear what her children have to say about what it was like to have such an amazing mother. I’m sure those children faced some interesting challenges, yet they surely must know they are better and stronger members of their families and communities because of her.

This was a gift for my 12 year old daughter. She had seen the documentary on TV and now she knows something about how just 50 years ago, women were effectively barred from working in many professions, along with not have many of the rights she takes for granted. The Notorious RBG was the legal eagle who broke the barrier and is now her heroine. She is so happy to have her own copy so she can share it with her friends.

God rest her soul she is so inspiring, and she accomplished so much in her life. I greatly admire her, and this was an excellent documentary into her life and all that she overcame. And her reasoning behind her “I dissent”
RBG rocked.

this documentary is the story of an amazing woman who shattered glass ceilings in legal reform, ended up on the USA supreme court and was a force of nature– also a quiet person…

I was charged for the movie and after 28mins. into it, the rebuffing circle started running. It then messaged that our internet would not support this film. We logged off and I then tried to Cancel the order. NO LUCK. How do I proceed?
We did manage to view the film through Apple TV and it was wonderful.

I watched this documentary soon after it first came out and have not stopped recommending it. I immediately rewatched this with my daughter and personally think that every woman in our country should have to watch this. Maybe I was just not paying attention through my education or maybe my head was in the sand, but I think that the role that this woman has played in shaping the lives of not only women, but every single person in our country is virtually unmatched and under-hyped. How did I get through high school and college and not fully understand her role in shaping the world we live in today. Her brilliance and foresight pushed her to fight for equal rights for all, not just women and her genius course of action is laid out before you. Her story is delivered in an approachable and thoughtful way. The subject matter and legal jargon associated with the law and our nation’s judicial system could easily turn someone off or confuse them. The Notorious RGB does just the opposite. If you have not watched this, stop what you are doing right now and watch this. Better yet, go grab your best girlfriend, daughter, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, neighbor or whoever you want and get them to watch it with you! Thank you RGB for all that you fought for and accomplished for us and for living a life that I can be held up as an example of what just one person is capable of. Much love and respect.

I thoroughly enjoyed this look at the life of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The filmmakers weave her career and family life together seamlessly, as Ginsburg herself appears to do. Snippets of her oral arguments as a young lawyer before the Supreme Court help display her tenacious brilliance. Millions of women owe her a debt for her relentless work to gain equal rights for women in the workplace and for men in tax law and social benefits. The viewer also gets to see a great lifelong love story in her half-century marriage to a partner and soulmate. Ginsburg’s sense of humor shines too. When asked if she minds the “Notorious RBG” moniker, borrowed from rapper Notorious B.I.G., she quips that they have a lot in common, they’re both from Brooklyn. The woman can hold a plank longer than many twenty-somethings!
I recommend both the glossy biopic “On the Basis of Sex” and this above average biography. It’s worth the money just to see the audience at Kennedy Center react when Ginsburg in 18th century dress appears on stage in an opera two nights after the 2016 election. She is a national treasure.
