DV –
Seemed very dated and not a portrayal of modern orthodox Israelis.
Sundancer –
Story of divorced mother and her 2 daughters making their way to independence through an orthodox community in Israel. The women are sympathetically and empathically portrayed while the men from young to old run from self centered to dangerous (the one exception is an unprepossessing man who serves as “the exception the proves the rule” about men in this movie. Despite these plot shortcomings the movie is interesting and at times genuine,
WHS –
Nice feel good story.

Things can go wrong in the best of families and places.
M. L. Nilias –
not the best for this director but still very enjoyable.. the elitism of the mother’s “friends” is painful and very funny. The young girl is very just, and I fell in love with the taxi driver who is the only honest adult in this story.
realitytest –
In fact, the only one so far I’ve watched for its own merits and not just to practice Hebrew! There’s a lot of crap out there, I’m sorry to say (and that’s without even counting the TV shows)!
Roni Batzion –
Very sweet, gentle story about a widowed mother with two girls who is looking to join a very conservative bunch of Jewish settlers who are setting up a new community. She has to prove herself to be admitted to this group. Her closest friend, and a real yenta, is the wife of the leader of this group. The young teenaged girls are reacting to the death of their father and their impending move from a comfortable apartment in town to a much more demanding life– anyone who has raised teenagers can imagine the challenges this poor widow faces on all sides. But help is on the way, from an entirely unexpected source…
Jay Ray –
The acting may not be the best from every character, the script may slow down a few times, but the message is poignant and the sum total is a folk-story classic and even more cinematic than that title allows. The theme is adult at times, dealing with rape in the best way possible if it’s possible at all. The rest of the story is often light and the entire picture is magnificently balanced.

Great movie. Shows a slice of life in Israel. Highly recommend.
