Work better than I expected with my drum set. Easy on the hands. Nice retractable brushes
Disinterested Reviewer –
These are perfect for shuffle type percussion on the Meinl Cajon. They are lightweight, well balanced, and appear well made. They sound perfect with the Cajon, especially for soft rhythmic beats, and are a nice compliment to using the Cajon hands only. I found that having the adjustable length of the brushes allows for a nice change of sound, including a deepening sound, or even a ‘beat’ with stick only, especially when targeting the bass section of the Cajon.
These bring a nice variety of sound to the Cajun and make a versatile instrument (Cajon) even more versatile, and allow for a pleasant “shuffle” pace sound that goes so nicely with Americana, folk, and country blues music. If you like the “unplugged sound”, a la Clapton, these sounds really nice with the Meinl Cajon.

I am not a percussionist…this is my first set of brushes. Having confessed, all I can say is that these are light, easy to handle and appear to be very well made…and the price was reasonable. Well packaged and delivered on time. Good transaction.

durable and great for cajon.

O.K. I have to admit I suffer from SAS (stick aquisition syndrome). These retractable brushes are a little heavier than some other similar retractable brushes I’ ve used. These are useable on snare drums and cymbals as well as on cajons and other hand drums. On drum kits these are a nice alternative to wire brushes and a lighter alternative for use on cajons than those big fat cajon brushes or broomsticks. I like these a lot but having said that I like more I love having a lot of choices for which sticks to use for whatever song comes up. Specifically, these meinl brushes are quality made, have a nice balanced feel and are reasonably priced. I consider it a nice investment and another great addition to my “arsenal” of sticks & brushes.

These sound absolutely phenomenal and take the cajon sound to a whole nother dimension… but they are putting dents/scratches on the faceplate of my cajon! I’m pretty bummed because I know they’ll shorten the life of my cajon. But when it all comes down to it, they really do make the sound better and more interesting, so I’ll still use them.
By the way: I managed to reduce the dents by taking felt cable ties and tying them around the top of the white handle. They still scratch a little bit.

Makes for a great cost effect Indy jazz sound on my kit! Easily packable too!

I thought I’d try a set of brushes to get an additional sound on the cajon – they are great! SO MUCH easier on my hands than playing bare-handed. You can still get a good bass thump by using the rubber part, even with the brushes pulled out. I am not likely go to back to playing bare-handed from now on!
