Looks the part and functions perfect for my ’72 Super Reverb. This is vintage style with RCA jacks. NOT FOR MODERN AMPS w/ quarter inch foot switch jack!!!!
The Jaundiced Eye –
Be advised that there are at least two different types of Fender-style foot switch currently being offered for sale on the Internet. This one, bearing the Fender name and “Made in Mexico” (sticker on bottom), is well-constructed and functions perfectly out of the box. The other, which is probably Chinese made, does not. The Chinese version can be quickly spotted due to its very short RCA pins; and, although it costs about the same as the genuine Fender unit, does not function as well. Indeed, the short pins do not make proper contact in some amplifiers. I found this out the hard way when I mistakenly ordered the Chinese version on Ebay, and ended up having to replace the short-pinned RCA plugs. The photo used in the Ebay ad showed long pins, so you can’t trust the photos alone to determine which unit you are getting.
Bottom line: The ads on Amazon that say “Fender Accessory” are, most likely, offering the genuine unit. I would still contact any vendor prior to ordering one of these foot switches and ask them directly if it is a genuine Fender part with “Made in Mexico” on the bottom. At the same price, there is absolutely no incentive to order or receive the other, inferior, short-pinned unit.

High quality replacement. Got it for my 1974 fender bandmaster. Smooth to engage, does not require shoes. Highly recommend

The footswitch works great, but I had to do some research to find out that the shielded (silver) lead goes to Reverb and the unshielded (white) lead goes to Vibrato (Fender’s word for Tremolo). Since the housing is silver, I’m thinking of putting a little white sticker next to the VIB button so I know which wire it controls.

For $30.00 I was very surprised. 1st, made in Mexico and not china. 2nd, the housing is fairly close to the same thickness as the original late 60’s early 70’s one I have. The switches are not as nice and HD as originals, however I was expecting a much lesser quality than what is in the assembly. I looked for original used switches and the prices are climbing up there in price. I actually was going to use this new one for parts to rebuild my original, but the likeness and quality of this new one is nice enough to just use and I am doing. I am putting the old one back into storage. Very satisfied with cost(unusual these days) and very surprised in quality. I am especially happy that Fender is not importing these from a country that despises our country (china) I would highly recommend these foot switches if you need one for your vintage Fender amp. Thanks for reading

I was lucky enough to be given an original 1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb blackface amp by a friend many years ago. It didn’t come with the original pedal (not that I’m complaining!) but it was cool to find out that Fender still produces these in the vintage style. Works like a charm, looks nice, and cost me less than some 3rd party reproductions I have seen out there. Definitely a no-brainer!

amazing how good this item is,it is being used on a fourty year old Fender amp and it works perfectly

I own a ’71 Vibrolux Reverb and a ’69 Super Reverb. I’ve intermittently had major hum and noise associated with these amps. All along, I’ve looked at capacitors, tubes, the reverb transformer, reverb tank, etc. (since they seemed to occur when the reverb was activated, probably due to the additional gain amplifying the initial hum) when the issue was with the footswitch (more than likely a poor ground path now that I’m thinking about it). Both of my older footswitches had problems, so I took a chance on ordering one of these and the issue cleared up immediately.
You get what you pay for. I had ordered a replacement cheapo footswitch that made my amp sound worse than the original switches years ago (just to have a spare). This official one, while the metal may not be the same as the originals (it’s a bit cheaper) and the footswitches don’t have the hard click of the original works great and makes the amps sound great. I like this modern replacement one so much I’m buying another. You can’t get a better testimony than that.

The switches are a soft contact and not like the old-style mechanical ones that Fender used back in the day
