I found this to be a very enjoyable game. While it has some drawbacks I genuinely had a good time cleaning the street of scum.
    Graphics

-I found the graphics in this game to be quite pleasant. They didn’t try to go for ultra realistic, make you stare in awe type graphics. The graphics make me feel kind of like I’m playing the new Team Fortress in a single player adventure. I was never annoyed with the slightly cartoonish graphics. It fit the characters quite well.

    Story

-The story is very simple. Rescue the damsel in distress and kill (or knock out) the bad guys. Despite this they really get you to empathize with the main character, Corvo. You will come to different forks in the roads during the game and find yourself thinking, WWCD (what would Corvo do)? Any game that gets you to relate to a character and makes you truly cheer for that character is good in my book. The game has its twists and turns and does a decent job of introducing you to several characters and allows you build a basic relationship with them.

    Gameplay

-I have always been a fan of 3rd person sneaking games, from Thief to Splinter Cell. This game does a good job of allowing you to choose the stealth or assault approach to each mission. You will most likely feel that Corvo is a man of the shadows who likes to drop in announced, dispatch his victims, and then disappear again. The sneaking is very fluid and you will find yourself having a lot of fun with Corvos abilities, like teleporting short distances. Direct combat is very simple. You have a one or two offensive abilities, a couple of different weapons (crossbow, pistol, grenades), and your main weapon, sword/dagger. Once you are engaged in melee it is a very simple matter of hitting block at the right moment put your opponent off-balance and then strike. One thing I liked about the melee combat is the quick kills. Unlike some other third person games, like Assassins Creed, once you have breached your foes defenses Corvo will make short work of them. This principal applies to the first guy you kill and biggest bosses in the game. You may find direct combat to get old quickly. This is mitigated by minimizing direct confrontation. Pop out of the shadows for quick kills then disappear again. Overall, the combat flows very smoothly and it is impressive to watch your assassin work.

    Replayability

-The game is not very long. It shouldn’t take you more than 8 hours to beat it. This includes searching for the extras in the game. I have always been a fan of games that react to your decisions and actions. While this game doesn’t have the complex possibilities of a Mass Effect it is enough to make you want to beat it a second time to go for the alternate ending.
After I beat it the first time I almost immediately launched the game again to try for a different ending and to try and get the no kill challenge. This provided a fun challenge and the second time through I felt much more comfortable with my abilities. I do not think I will be playing again for another year or two though from here.

    Overall

-If you enjoyed the Splinter Cell games or Assassins Creed (minus the horrible DRM from Ubisoft) I think you will enjoy this game. I found it a bit short and the choices of abilities were bit a bare. But, it has enough action to get you from the beginning to the end without ever asking yourself, is it almost done? They took a very basic story and made it exciting enough that it feels different than many other games. While it has some things it definitley could improve on I am glad I got this game.

This game has set a new bar for me. The light, the shadow, the voice acting, the story, the option to go fast paced and gory or slow pace and stealthy, multiple routs for mission completion, and character customization, added together amounts to a very fulfilling experience.

The story keeps the game moving and gives you place and purpose, but what keeps me playing is the stunning level of detail of environments and how light, sound, and abilities interact to make for a very unique and fresh experience.

Did you ever play Theif: The dark project? Playing the game stealthily this game is strongly reminiscent of that, although with some very significant advancements. Certain abilities are reminiscent of Deus Ex: Human Evolution, as are enemy AI and pathing. There are no strong advancements in enemy AI but there is an added hand to hand combat system that is quite advanced and enjoyable that sets itself apart. I would highly recommend looking up Youtube videos of Dishonored’s combat system.

Light has huge importance in this game. For example, a 6-pane windowed door will cast a dynamic shadow rendered in realistic perspective that also directly impacts your visibility. It is not just a pre-drawn shadow on the ground, the shadow will move with the door, from the light source. It may sound like a trivial detail, but it are details like this that many modern games are completely lacking. Textures are extremely detailed. Flesh is not just a static color, it is a multi-layered rendering which makes faces and hands strikingly realistic.

Sound has huge importance in this game. For example dropping an unconscious body with a sword may cause enough of a sound to draw a guards attention. A guard mumbling or whistling to themselves will give you locational clues and allow you to avoid detection. Foot steps on stone will reverberate realistically. Rats will scurry, water will trickle, and going through sewer pipes will echo realistically and produce wind tunnel effects. These are minor things but they come together so fantastically to immerse you in a way not often seen. If you have played Amnesia: The descent, sound and like are handled similarly, but Dishonored had a bigger budget and it shows.

Your abilities have huge importance. You can kill a guard, 3 guards may get alerted, so you slow time, possess a rat, craw through a hole to another room, then teleport to a balcony, possess a maid, jump off the balcony, land 3 stories below (killing the maid) and walk away unscathed.

Perspective is a huge importance. There are a number of situations where you may be below in a sewer, looking up at your enemy, as street water trickles down on your mask, or on top of a building, cat walk, balcony, or sewer piping looking down on your enemy. Either situation can give you a strategic advantage and additional options for completion of your objectives. Often finding these strategic vantage points while creeping through shadows unnoticed is part of the thrill of the game. And while doing this you will hear guards conversations amongst themselves; scripted events that are often individualized for that moment of the game. And they are frequent, so while you may realize they are of course scripted, it is not noticeable, it further immerses you in the environment.

Combat is challenging if you decide to go that route. 3 guards fighting face to face will provide a definite challenge and you will have to use your abilities, you cannot simply hack and slash.

You can replay missions. If you went stealth at first, try up close and personal next. Both are rewarding in their own rights.

Another smash hit from Bethesda I’d say. If you like first person stealth games with a high level of realism, a non-linear dynamic combat system thanks to unique abilities, with an immersive environment thanks to stellar sound, lighting, and perspective, you must pick up this game.

Hope this review helped! (get it lol)
