This book is well thought out and extremely detailed in all things Jira Align. The application is complex, with so many variables that customers get overwhelmed trying to learn. , Even though I have configured the application for clients, I found many useful tips and details. If your looking to install Jira Align, read this first!

I’ve been with the companies that built this product for nearly 5 years, working directly with prospects and customers, so I’ve witnessed how successful customers deployed Jira Align to deliver massive value to their organizations.
If you are embarking on your Jira Align journey, this book will be an excellent guide to support your efforts.
Each Jira Align implementation has its own challenges, so please work with certified Atlassian Partners like Valiantys to strategize and deploy Jira Align, but everyone needs quality reference materials from people who have done it successfully, and this book is it!

This book does a thorough job going through three main components of the Jira Align experience: Setup, Practical work and Enterprise lean portfolio management (LPM). This book is good desk side companion for administrators, scrum masters, product owners, business partners and portfolio managers. We just completed our first PI planning session in Jira Align and I will be purchasing this book for all of our scrum masters to assist us in our journey moving forward. Congrats to Aslam Crader and Dean MacNeil for writing what appears to be the perfect Jira Align playbook! Kudos!

My day-to-day job is to implement Jira Align with customers and help them leverage the tool to create a more connected enterprise. After reviewing the content Dean and Aslam developed around scaling agile with Jira Align, I can’t recommend this book enough! If you’re looking to learn how to use Jira Align and leverage it to support your agile transformation efforts, this is a fantastic book to get started with.
One piece of feedback (and more of a callout to those looking to purchase the book) is that there is not a ton of content around the usage of Portfolio and Enterprise level functionality. The book mostly focuses on Program level functionality (which is good because you have to start at the Program before climbing to Portfolio and Enterprise).
Amazon Customer –
The guys who wrote this book have clearly been involved in a number of Jira Align customer projects as the content in it is practical and comes from real world customer scenarios vs. being a list of Jira Align features.
It breaks the subject down in a really nice way, stepping from pre-deployment, through deployment, onto using the tool, problem solving and finally discusses some “special use cases” so completely in-line with a real world deployment.
As I said in the headline, if your organisation is looking to deploy Jira Align, this is a must read!

I have been waiting for this first book written on Jira Align and it is invaluable! Not only does it guide me through the nuts and bolts of implementing this leading enterprise agile platform, but it provides strategic guidance and success criteria. I particularly like how the authors focus on outcomes. I’ve learned how to organize teams around value and connect their work to strategic outcomes like OKRs. The extent of the platform’s functionality can be overwhelming, but the authors break it down into manageable chunks tied to solving real business problems. The diagrams are extremely helpful as is their real world experience. For example, the connection between Jira Software and Jira Align is well documented and I learned tips and tricks to reduce the Jira Admin burden, improve performance, and balance team flexibility with program and portfolio consistency. Highly recommended for portfolio leadership (great chapter on lean portfolio management), release train engineers, product managers, and scrum masters. Thank you Dean MacNeil and Aslam Cader!
