Just bought a travel trailer and needed a brake controller. Would’ve preferred OEM but my bank account said no. This one was recommended and a decent price. Installation was fairly easy. Instructions for setting it seemed clear. The guy at the dealer helping us hook everything up told us what they’re usually set on and how to adjust it if needed, so we didn’t go through the test drive like the instructions had said. Father-in-law drove it home and said it felt like it was set right. No problems with it so far!

These brake controllers hit the sweet spot of price and performance. All the more expensive controllers give you are generally pointless options (multiple trailers, 360 mounting, fancy screen, etc). Even people like me with multiple trailers and vehicles will probably NEVER use any of these extra features. In the end, they just waste your money and make the brake controller more complicated to use.
This controller functions exactly as one should. With no trailer, you don’t even notice it’s there. The display isn’t intrusive, and completely shuts off aside from a small, dim light to let you know it still works.
With a trailer, it just works. The controls are simple, the boost functions are easy to use and understand, and the adjustability is straightforward. Installation is as easy as any other brake controller, and at 70 degrees you’d be hard pressed to find a spot it won’t work in. Braking action is smooth and consistent, and the manual override works as it should. The display tells you whether it’s connected, and how much power it’s feeding to the brakes, and that’s about it. Fantastically simple and effective.
Long story short, I already installed 3 of them in 3 separate vehicles, and we just purchased an ’03 Explorer that will be the fourth. We use this mainly for a 3 horse slant.

First, I don’t like the brake controllers that are basically just a knob which integrates into the dash. I don’t like giving up a power port or dash storage in order to fit something like that in.
That brings me to the Tekonsha. It had great reviews and so I went with it. Installation was easy but I wish they had included something besides those aggravating flat screws. Lol. Connection was completely plug and play with their Jeep wiring harness that I bought separately.
It all works perfectly and seems to nicely match the level of braking between my truck and my travel trailer. The trailer will slow or stop the truck by itself if I press the manual button, but when I press the brake pedal everything responds accordingly as it should. An LED readout shows the level of braking power at a given time. There’s going to be a little adjustment period where you’ll be tweaking the brakes’ timing and sensitivity.
It’s the easiest thing to install ever. I like the plastic multi position bracket. It allows me to push it flat against the dash when I am not towing. It fits nicely in my Jeep Gladiator. I chose to put it under the steering wheel next to my right knee. I can look down and easily see it but it isn’t in my way.
In summary it does exactly what it is supposed to do, and I’m happy that I chose it.

I’m rebuilding a 6×10 dump trailor and and it was a real project. These parts I ordered are a important part for getting the trailor on the road safely. So far everything is going well and I will get the trailer inspection soon. I’m vary satisfied with the quick delivery and quality of the parts I ordered.

Installation was simple, plug and play with the correct adapter cable. Setup and operation is easy. The trailer brakes smoothly with none of the lurching I experienced towing a trailer with surge brakes. Minor complaint that the module still applies a varying voltage when the truck and trailer are fully stopped and the brakes are applied.

I installed this on a Jeep Grand Cherokee with a factory towing package. The Jeep already had a connector under the dash, so I ordered the adapter to fit it, then just plugged it into the brake controller. The controller worked exactly as specified. Very easy to set initial brake pressure for an unloaded trailer then very easy to reset brake pressure for a fully loaded trailer. If I stop suddenly, it applies a lot of voltage (this is adjustable) to the electric brakes on the trailer. If I stop slowly, it applies a smaller voltage (this is adjustable) to the electric brakes on the trailer. Nice LED readout lets you know how much voltage is being applied to the electric brakes so you can fine tune the voltage to the load on the trailer. Proportional brake controller Works Great!

Works well as far as I can tell for trailer braking. My only issue was when trying to mount it. It comes with two mounts. One is a snap-in type of bracket that works fine, but I wanted to use the more traditional bracket that gives you the ability to adjust the angle. That bracket requires holes in the controller itself, which aren’t pre tapped. Holding the controller with one hand and trying to hand screw tiny self-tapping screws through plastic with the other hand isn’t easy. You obviously don’t want to drill a pilot hole into the controller, and I didn’t want to put it in a vise to hold it steady. So, needing the controller that day, I ditched the mount I wanted to use and went with the snap mount. I attached a picture of the side of the controller and the divots for the holes that aren’t there.
