This fuel strainer is a necessary replacement item any time that an intank fuel pump is replaced. Original strainer may look ok but small particles and scum still restrict fuel pickup and will shorten life of your new pump or cause erratic fuel delivery at the injectors. Don’t bypass this part during pump replacement.

Yes, you should buy a pump replacement kit if replacing the OEM pump or another kit with a matching the strainer.included, because this Airtex FS175 did not come with a retaining washer nor does it fit an actual Ford OEM pump inlet from 1999 A.D. Maybe some of Jaguar’s would fit this?
