Summary; color temp was original, modification was easy, performance was impressive.

I am an avid tuner, and have installed everything including high-end and factors HID systems. Once you decide that performance is more important to you than looks, you have 2 options; a legitimate HID kit or a set of HIR bulbs.

If you have capsules designed WITHOUT projector-style lenses than HID* become glaring, annoying and (illegal). My customers wanted an alternative and i gave these bulbs a shot.

Impressive. They were slightly cooler in temp (relatively speaking, they run about 4300K) and provided a more focused, intense beam of light. I was happy with the original fit, after clipping the top tab (easy) it sealed in very well with the aid of bulb grease. I would recommend these bulbs if you wanted serious uprated visibility but did not care about the color temperature.

Installed these vs the 9005 so had to trim one of the tabs it was easy much brighter. I had put in some leds in the preojectors they were nice and clean white, but no focused light on high beam. 2015 explorer. Wish I would of ordered elsewhere I got one authentic bulb other wasn’t and the quality difference was evident looking at the bulbs.

I bought my Maxima brand new in July of 2007. Loved almost everything about it – except I felt the headlights were extremely weak. So weak that at times I wondered if the lights were even on! I bought the base model so it did not have HID lights – just standard halogen. Anyway, now that the car is over 6 years old, I really felt like I had to do something. The night visibility was worse than ever and it even felt unsafe. So after some painstaking research, I was able to determine that the 9011 bulb would fit my 2007 Maxima with a very minor modification to the upper tab of the bulb. Easily done with large nail clippers – just remove a portion of the plastic (many tutorials online). In fact, some of the 2007 and earlier model year Maximas actually used the 9012 bulb. But the 2008 and post March 2007 build 07 models used the lowly 9005L bulb from Sylvania. A very poor choice in my opinion as the light output is extremely weak.
I have not driven it much at night since the bulb swap – but on the test drive right after installing the 9011 bulbs, I immediately could tell a difference in light output. A definite and significant difference! This is unlike when I tried switching to SilverStars on other cars I owned – and noticed no real difference in light output. The 9011 is definitely an improvement – highly recommended. I just have to see how long they will last. Even if I get a couple of years out of them, at the price they sell for on Amazon, it’s no big deal. Probably the next best thing to true HID.

Purchased a couple of these back in August for fog lights that get intermittent use. Were easy to install and much brighter than the old bulbs, so that was a plus. However, I installed them and drove the truck in Sept – Nov, wasn’t driving the truck much Dec – Feb as I was doing some work on it, and just started driving it again in March, so at most these bulbs were used for ~4 months, and during night driving they weren’t even on all the time.

Just had one burn out the other day. Given they are brighter than the original bulbs I did expect somewhat shorter lifespan, but in the 7 years I’ve owned the truck, this is the first fog light bulb changeout I’ve had to do. Needless to say I was surprised when the new bulb burned out with 4 months of use given the originals lasted >7 years. Will see if the other one burns out soon, or if one of the two I received was just a dud.

I bought 2x 9011 bulbs to replace 9005 high beams- just sand down part of a tab and it’s the same bulb with better light output. I don’t know if it’s because of the spec difference, the age of the old bulbs, or perhaps both, but it made a huge difference in the brightness of my high beams.

I bought a set of these for my 96 Honda Accord as high beam lights because with some extremely minor modification to the tabs on the plastic base (NOT the car) they can be used as a replacement for a stock 9005 bulb. The bulb pulls the same amount of power as a 9005 and has the filament in the same place so reflectors still work as intended but because of the design of the bulb itself it is able to drive the filament hotter and brighter than the 9005 bulb. (Apparently this is enough of a difference that it has to be listed as a separate bulb type!)

I had a hard time getting into the headlight housings on my car so it took me a while to get them installed. I finally got them in about 7 months ago and have been very happy with them. Light is difficult to compare subjectively but they are extremely bright and white and light up farther down and alongside the road than the stock bulbs I replaced (which may have been very old and worn and overdue for replacement anyway…… hard to say, I got them with the car.)

On the whole I am extremely happy with the bulbs and would recommend them as a bright light alternative to a standard 9005 bulb. I would also recommend them over higher driven, highly expensive 9005 bulbs especially ones with a blue tint to the glass (why tint a bulb to eliminate part of the light it is putting out already?). If you are looking for a white light as opposed to yellow these produce a very white light. My experience as someone who sells the higher driven, tinted bulbs at my place of work indicates they have a badly reduced lifespan due to being overdriven.

Personally however I chose not to, and would not recommend the similar conversion from 9006 to the 9012 bulb on the low beams, unless you are willing to make SURE your lights are aimed correctly and the lenses are clear and free from defects, just because of the high amount of light being put out. Blinding oncoming drivers does not increase your safety at all.

These are a great upgrade for 9005 high beam bulbs for many cars. You can trim ~3mm off the thicker twist tab and it will twist right in place of a normal 9005 bulb but with significantly more output.
