This inflator sure makes it easy to top up tires. No cords to find, untangle, and plug into outlets (that must be in the vicinity of the car). I like the screw on connector because it makes an affirmative connection, though takes ever so slightly more time to do so. I like the built in air release together with the digital pressure gauge, which together make setting precise pressures fast and easy. I like the clips for storing the hose quickly so it doesn’t flop around. It feels robust and well made. There are multiple complaints on the Internet that there is no trigger lock, and I thought this might bug me, but in practice this inflator is fast enough that i don’t find myself wishing for a trigger lock (and it would be easy enough to make one, e.g. from a velcro strap). It uses the same batteries as my other Makita tools so i saved money (and space) by getting just the bare tool. It’s a bit noisy but not excessively so-quieter than the plug-in inflator it is replacing.

This thing is awesome, pump up your car tire in no time! Set exact pressure and use it’s simple, you can also use it on air mattress, pool floats, beach toys anything you need to blow up with air, this thing is awesome in my opinion!!! Use your regular Makita batteries, simple!

This is a useful tool – especially if you already have a bunch of Makita junk.
I verified that the gauge is accurate.
The heaviest use I’ve put it through was to take off-road trailer tires up to over 80PSI. It took a while to get them full from under 40, but they got there.
What’s odd is that the automatic cutoff doesn’t always work. Sometimes, it’ll get to pressure, and then keep going and going as long as you hold down the trigger. Once you let off and pull it again, it won’t start, and it’ll show a couple of PSI over the set point. It’s not the end of the world, but odd – and given this thing’s rather high price point, it’s sort of annoying.
Still, I’m glad I have it. It beats the snot out of dragging out a pancake compressor to fill car, trailer, and bike tires, and I always travel with it when going on longer trips now. (This thing and a Makita 18V work light always go with us now.)

If I were less mechanical this would be a good substitute for an air compressor if all you do is fill tires and floaties. It is what I think of as makita in quality and build. It will find a place in the truck for roadside fixes.
