Bought this Makita XWT15Z impact after looking for way too long. It has been the perfect impact for me. Just gutted the entire drivetrain from a Jeep and only had 5 bolts that required a strong arm bar to break loose. Lug nuts are a breeze, just remember it has different torque settings if its not doing the job for you.
It’s small size let’s you get into tight spaces.
I originally wanted a Milwaukee just because I have seen them in action but already own Makita so didn’t want to purchase new batteries. After I recieved it I found out that the older LXT batteries don’t fit, so had to buy some anyway.
Other than the battery issue it’s been a great tool that proved itself immediately.

Is this an amazing gun? Yes! Will this gun give you 444ftlbs torque in reverse all day long? Most likely not. I have a 1 ton SRW (single rear wheel) pick up. The lugs are 22mm. Did this wrench remove them? Yes but? But what? It did remove them with much complaining and vibration. You could tell very easily the gun was not happy. My air compressor has given up the ghost and I had to use this gun for the job no choice. Normally I don’t use my tools to their maximum capacities. I like to keep all my tools in their sweet spots. I did figure this would be a good test. Yes the lugs could have been over torqued by a service station mechanic but that happens. You have no choice but to be ready for these things. The gun did work? Yes, but out of the 8 lugs I was all but sure I was going to have to get my breaker bar for 2 of them. The gun did eventually remove all 8 but I would not want to do that type of heavy work with this gun on a regular basis. The 2 toughest lugs took 10 full seconds of hammering to start turning. That’s a lot of vibration into ones hand. I just placed an order for the Makita model 8. The big boy in their line with 1100-ftlb’s of torque in reverse. I’ll let you know how that gun preforms.
Final thoughts?—— Would I buy this gun again? Would I recommend it to a friend? Yes and Yes! Great gun! Just keep it to the below 200-ftlb fasteners and leave the 1 ton lugs to the big boys. This gun will work in a pinch but I’d rather have its big brother to the larger jobs.
Added 7-3-21. Watch the prices on this wrench! The current price is now 40 bucks higher than I paid in Feb? I don’t know what this is all about but it seems every time I look at this wrench it’s a different price?

Beast of an impact wrench gun. Needs the 6Ah battery though. Batteries are pricey . 1 less star for that

I usually don’t use power tools when working on a customer’s boat or my personal vehicles. When I do need a power tool though, it’s usually a 3/8″ or 1/2″ impact. This Makita has never failed me. When we got stuck bolts or nuts, this will either remove the stuck object or break it and keeps us moving forward with the job.

Had to remove lug nuts from my backhoe, no air supply nearby. Didn’t think this tool would be up to the task, but was proven wrong! Worked great, and have used it many times since with good results. Love Makita tools, use them at work and at my home shop!

I love this tool. I use this for lug bolts, general large bolts, lag bolts and even long wood screws. It is easy to over torque with this. It has the power and speed to make to make jobs less daunting. Great companion to my Makita tool set.
