I have found that this driver doesn’t have the torque as the previous model.

I so want this driver to work!!! It’s light weight, compact and quieter than normal drivers. But used it once and it was satisfactory, then went to use it on another job this week and it has zero power – won’t put a screw into butter. I have an old Milwaukee driver (loud as heck) that I can’t kill .. 10 years old and absolutely won’t stop. Just hate the noise. I guess I’ll try and pursue warranty / replacement. 🙁

Title: Great for Light Tasks, Not Cut Out for the Heavy-Duty Scene

I purchased the Milwaukee Surge Drill with the expectation of a tool that offered both performance and reduced noise levels. On that front, it delivers; it’s quieter and smoother than most drills I’ve used, which makes it a pleasure for regular DIY projects around the house. It’s good for what it’s intended—light to medium work where precision and minimal disturbance are key. However, it falls short when the going gets tough.

As a Tech for rental equipment this tool is my “go to” impact gun. I have hex adopter’s with 1/4, 3/8 & 1/2 sockets. It gets every job done, Quiet/Quick/Light weight and strong,

I got a sweet deal that I’m not sure how, but don’t care. I took a chance at something different. Have used and abused my other milwaukee drivers. My primary application is fastening into cfmf. This new drivers has 4 settings 1,2,3 and metal. It has plenty of guts to drive grk’s into timber and counter sink. The coolest feature is the metal mode. It spins fast for the drill point to cut. Then once the threads engage it slows down and gets torque(y). It’s just cool! A lot less (none so far) stripped out or snapped off heads or taint hits. You know pushing too hard before you’re in. It makes it easier for newbies who don’t have that touch yet. Guys who get stuck and couldn’t drive a screw to save their lives. It’s super smooth and quiet too. Good job milwaukee. All the guys at the job site are jelly!

So I do it all, from electrical, plumbing, tiling, framing, drywall, carpentry, automotive repair, you name it I do it. It’s an absolute beast. I’ve broken more fasteners than I can count at first. It’s so smooth and quiet that I had no idea. The old Milwaukee drivers kinda told you what was going on. Not this one. It’s fast and quiet. Super quiet. The first time it was used we all were like was that the hammer? Didn’t believe it was that quiet. It’s a fantastic driver for how much it was.

I’m so impressed with this impact after having used the latest fuel standard impact from Milwaukee. The standard one is to fast and too strong and very difficult to screw especially small screws. This is a completely different level and much better in all ways. Very smooth, quiet, slow when needed and very strong and fast when fully pressured. I highly recommend this impact for anyone who used other Milwaukee impacts. Just threw them to your bin and get this one!

Gonna start with the only drawback this tool has and that’s the significantly lower than standard torque – it can take awhile to get self tapping screws to grab steel. I have both a 2850 and 2853 that will grossly outperform the 2760 when driving 1/4 inch lags into steel. Once the 2760 actually grabs it will generally drive as fast as the others though. Also note that I use all 3 drivers in a fast paced professional manufacturing environment.

But for everything else, aka everything lighter duty than self tapping lags into steel, this is a massively superior tool. It’s exceptionally quiet and smooth and performs with a level of precision control that I’ve never experienced in any other driver. I use mine at work to do a lot of finishing work where overtightened screws lead to really bad days. The hammering action on the 2760 is very subtle, you feel it and it works, but it’s not the same experience as with a standard metal on metal impact action. For reference my 2850 hammers so hard that it commonly jumps the bit out of the screws or breaks them off. My 2853 doesn’t hammer as hard as the 2853 but will also frequently snap off screw heads. The 2760 though is just buttery smooth with no problems.

    I highly recommend.
