I drive a fairly old Honda Odyssey (2008) with 160+k miles, and have been getting P0430 (bank 2 catalyst below efficiency threshold). This engine has the variable cylinder control (VCM) which is known in some circles to cause a lot of oil consumption, especially on bank 2 cylinders, so I’ve disabled that feature, but still get the code, as my bank 2 catalyst is probably very very fouled.
The bottle says, add 1 ounce per gallon, so I poured the 16 ounce bottle into a partially full gas tank (probably had about 12-16 gallons in there). After 100 miles of driving, the check engine light went away on its own and stayed that way till the end of the tank. Unfortunately, upon refilling the tank with new gas, the engine light came back pretty soon, but the fact that it worked once gave me some hope. Ordered a couple more bottles of this stuff.
Prior to this, I’ve replaced spark plugs, all oxygen sensors, and tried the “LiquiMoly Catalytic Cleaner”, which requires you to take apart the air intake and spray it directly into a running engine… which is annoying, and it didn’t clear my engine codes permanently either. So, at least this is more user friendly, and I’ll give it some more tries.

Still the code is appearing P0420, no use

I have a 2020 ford f150 3.5 EcoBoost. I tried this product 3 different times and it didn’t work for me. I red in the reviews that it has worked for other people, but unfortunately it hasn’t worked for me.

I posted before and I just wanted to do an addendum to my original post. I have a 2004 Xterra and my check engine light went on around 2020. I know I need a new car but I’m a cheapskate and am waiting to see how election and the EV car initiative 2035 goes before I choose. I took car to O’Reily’s and used their diagnostic device. Said it was 420 catalytic converter issue. O’Reily employee said a new Catalytic converter would cost me $1200. My wife researched CC treatments which boasted they would clear 420 check engine light. I tried this product and after 500 to 600 miles my check engine light turned off. However about 7 months later the check engine light/420 came back on. I put another bottle in my tank and 500 miles later the light turned off. Again 6 or 7 months later the check engine light came on a third time. Now I’m am having success putting a new bottle in my tank every 3 or 4 months. Check engine light is staying off and I’m not needing to pay $2K plus for a catalytic converter replacement.

Check engine light still there but the car is smoother

Per my research, if your car smells funny, this item wont work. If your car still runs smooth but having an engine light on for catalytic converter and a bad mileage, this item is for you to try.
A few months ago, my car’s engine light was on, code P0420, 130k miles. It can be a different code for your car, but a simple trip to O’Reilly to borrow a scanner showed code P0420 means catalytic converter isnt working properly. The nearest repair shop quoted me a 1k1 offer, which left me nothing but despair. After researched through my not-so-trusted friend, Google, I bought 2 of these. I ran the entire first bottle to a full gas tank. The mileage was restore to regular, the engine light was off the second half of the tank but eventually got back on again. I ran the next gas tank without any addictive, to make sure the first bottle was gone-gone. I emptied the second bottle to the third full gas tank. Bump, after 200 miles or so, no more engine light. I write this review a few months later, at 140k miles, and the engine light is still off for now. For your information, before the incident, I ran 92 at Costco, for a whole year. Now, 92 at Shell, or Chevron, which costs more. I dont know if gas plays a role in here, but they say all top tier gas is the same. Through my own experience tho, stay away from Arco, they may be cheap, but terrible gas mileage. I have never heard any complaints on Costco gas, but maybe it’s just my car’s converter has finished its lifetime early.

Dura Lube Severe Catalytic and Exhaust Treatment Cleaner Fuel Additive exceeded my expectations. While it may not be a permanent fix for catalytic converter issues, it definitely got the job done for me. After running two bottles through my gas tank, it cleared my check engine code long enough for me to get my car inspected.
This product is an affordable and easy-to-use option that’s worth trying before spending hundreds—or even thousands—on catalytic converter repairs or replacements. It’s a practical solution if you need a quick, temporary fix to address emissions-related codes.
While I can’t speak to its long-term effectiveness, I’m impressed with how well it worked in my situation. I highly recommend giving it a shot if you’re looking for an inexpensive way to address catalytic or exhaust system issues. It might just save you some time and money.

For the last year, I’ve been struggling with P0300 and P0302 (engine misfire) on my 2004 Astroj. I had also had P0102 (MAFS). I’ve replaced distributor cap and rotor, all O2 sensors, MAF sensor and some vacuum lines. They all kept coming back.
I recently got the P0420. I cleared the code and it came back in 10 miles. I searched and
Dura Lube Severe Catalytic and Exhaust Treatment Cleaner Fuel Additive and bought 2 bottles because I have a 27 gallon tank.
When I was down 12 gallons from full, I poured in the 1st bottle. After I was down 16, I filled up and added the 2nd bottle. I’m nolonger getting ANY codes. Whatever was causing the other codes besides the P0420, it resolved those problems as well. I was getting the P0300 misfire codes on steep hills unless I downshifted. Now it takes them like a champ!
Good stuff, buy it.

I have a 2007 Mazda 3 mps with 117k on the clock. I use a full petrol system cleaner regularly as well as cat cleaner additives as I know my cat is older so probably not in the best shape. I’ve used cataclean, wynns etc just for piece of mind but never felt any difference tbh, I’ve had the cel light come on with same code every now and then “fuel trim post catalyst running lean bank one”.
I thought I’d try Duralube as it was rated #1 online in list of best cat cleaners, so put this bottle in with under quarter of tank then topped it up to 3 quarters full. As soon as I started up and drove out the garage, the car felt smoother and noticeably more quiet. After a couple of days, had no bad smells at all and car just felt less restrictive when accelerating. I know I’ll have to make this a regular routine every 3 months as my car is older and not really worth replacing cat, so I’m more than happy with using Duralube, can highly recommend it.

When my engine light goes on, I put a bottle of that stuff in my gas tank and the light doesn’t come on for 3 to 5 months. It’s an awesome product.
