The media could not be loaded.

Was difficult to setup at first. Watched a YouTube video on how to connect to GL1800. Problems with Siri too. Apple ran an update. Works fine now by using speak button on bike. “Hey Siri” does not function. Just a beep and twirley circle.
While on the freeway, windy day, with helmet visor closed my girlfriend couldn’t hear me on phone call. Sound volume on headset needs turned up to have decent volume control on bike. When “camera on” is voiced over headset its really loud and quite startling.
Most cumbersome is having to power on Sena twice, every time, to connect to phone and bike. 1st power on only connects to phone, even though bike shows a headset is connected, via headset icon.
After immediately turning off, then back on again, does it connect to phone and bike. At that point I can plug my iPhone into bike for Apple CarPlay. Weird.
Video is great. I can edit videos into clips like I shared above. Really like the video captured also records current music I’m listening to at that time.
I am disappointed on how fast it drains the battery. Seems to get about 2+ hrs before telling me battery is low. Will plug into battery storage on longer trips. I won’t like having wires hanging off helmet. This colder weather will probably drain faster.
Apple CarPlay works great. Good speakers. They drown out and even cancel most of the highway noise. Proper speaker placement in helmet is important.
I haven’t had the chance to connect to other riders yet. I will be be getting girlfriend a Sena non-vid next spring so she can listen to her own music.
Overall a great product. I think Sena is getting blamed for some of the issues other reviewers are having when I’m finding out; phone OS’s are to blame as well as Motorcycle Mfg. OS’s, just as equally.

All in all this is a very good headset for average everyday riders once you can get the CORRECT firmware into the device. Battery life could use improvment though.

I was excited about this headset as I was finally upgrading from Sena’s SMH-10 I have been using for probably 10 years. However when I initially started using the 50C I had about a day and a half of problems setting it up.

First, the instructions tell you to update to the latest firmware. Ok great. sounds easy enough. Then it says to use the included WIFI adaptor. The instructions to set the adaptor are very bare bones. To make it worse my VPN didn’t get along with the adapter. Finally after turning off my VPN and updating to what the Sena Motorcycle app claimed was the latest firmware I download the updates. Now all the voice prompts have stopped so as I am using the headset all I can hear is diffrent beep’s of various tones and have no way to know what they mean.
The “voice command” which is one of the largest selling points is completely non existent. The headset would constantly turn off every few minutes as I am trying to learn the operation and troubleshoot. Then, to top it off apparently tech support doesn’t work weekends so they were of NO help.

On the positive note after about a day and a half of internet searches that lead nowhere, self troubleshooting and pulling out half my hair, I figured out the problem. I tried to update the firmware again using an alternate method that I was able to dig up in the users manual. (The users manual is not included in the package and only available online or through the Sena motorcycle app.)
I had to go to my PC and download the “Sena Device Manager” and tried to update the firmware using that, instead of the included wifi adaptor and phone app. Thats when I learned the the version 1.1.1 that the app claimed was the latest was NOT. The Sena Device Manager installed version 1.2.1 which appears to have fixed everything.
I have only used the headset for one ride but the voice comands are a game changer. They take a little getting used to though. The audio clarity is leaps and bounds above the SMH-10 I have been using for years. I also found while I was troubleshooting that the ” wired mic” is not as good as the “boom mic” I called my home phone and left voice messages and the boom mic was much clearer while the smaller “wired mic” which sounded very faint.

After a day and a half of frustration to the point that I was ready to return it, I am optimistic that I will enjoy this headset/camera. Maybe I am asking a lot but I wish something this expensive would work as advertised right out of the box.

UPDATE: I got a reply from tech support and as some of the other reviews mentioned, all they really did was read the troubleshooting from the manual to me. As I mention in my review I was able to fix the issue myself, but it would seem tech support doesn’t really know the product they are supporting any better than the average customer. They basically told me if doing a factory reset didnt fix the issue, to return it to Amazon.
In short, when you update the firmware ( which shouldn’t be necessary out of the box) don’t trust the ‘Wifi adapter” Use your computer and the “Sena Device manager” downloaded from the Sena web site.

    January 7th, 2023:

It’s pricey haha. The dash cam can shoot up to 4k. The only thing I have yet to be able to do is how to change the timer the camera can record. I’m not sure if the micro memory card makes a difference but when inserted a 32gb, it can only record up to 30 seconds a video. When I put in a 128gb, it was able to record 9 minute videos.

The mesh intercom is awesome. As long as the riders have a mesh intercom functionality, it allow all riders to connect and communicate without the hassle of pairing up. It was pretty awkward but a wholesome moment when I accidentally came in range of another pair of riders while on the road.

You also still have the Bluetooth pairing which allows up to 3 other riders to communicate with.

Battery life for communication lasted a very long time. I have yet to fully test the intercom until dead battery. The dash cam usage however, drains the battery heavily. I found that once the battery got to 20%, it automatically turns off the dash cam. The intercom will still be on when the dash cam turns off.

My only complaint are the apps. It’s very tedious to update them. It’s also very buggy at times. There also no instruction on how to update them too. Thankfully, there was YouTube.
