Bought this for my wifes new Honda TRX 520. Easy install if you take your time and get it situated exactly where you want it before marking or drilling any holes in it. It will store 2 full face helmets along with some other small items like Rain gear, tools, bungies, etc. The molded arm rests and handles are well positioned and feel sturdy. The ONLY downside I discovered is with the otherwise very comfortable seat pads. Although they are well constructed in terms of the stitching and overall thickness, they, for some reason, used open cell foam inside the vinyl exterior. The problem is….If you leave your machine out in the rain or otherwise get the seat pads wet, when washing or submerging them while riding, water will get in through the stitching and be sucked up like a sponge by the Foam padding. Long after your machine is clean and dry again, the water that is is stuck in the foam does and will come squirting/squishing out of the stitching when you press down on or sit on the seat. Not sure how long it takes for the foam padding to dry out as it is wrapped in the vinyl and cannot be removed to hasten the drying process. Hopefully this won’t promote mold or breakdown of the padding over time. I guess we will see. Don’t be surprised when a couple of days after you finish your post ride wash and detail if your butt and lower back get a bit wet when you sit on it again. Closed cell foam would have been a better choice for the padding IMHO. Otherwise, The Black Boar is a great product, I would recommend it

I have been looking for a cargo box to go on the back of my 4wheeler. My neighbor invited me on a fundraising ride and he had one on his. There were a few other 4wheelers that had this product so I would say it is popular. I think it looks good too. This product is not designed to turn a one person ATV into a two person. As in it’s description it states, “Lounger for use while NOT in motion”. I bought this as a cargo box not to bring along another person. I like that it locks to prevent theft and the lid has two elastic cords to hold it shut. The lid also has a raised lip inside to keep the rain out. However, I am not sure that the handholds or the lid hing point will keep out the rain. The description says it is water resistant not water proof. So, if you are one of those people that like to go through deep watery holes, beware. It looks like they changed the design from rubber latches to elastic cords on the lid in case they break. Now they are easily replaceable using bungy cords cut to length. I have an Artic Cat which uses the speed lock system. I originally wanted to use 4 speed locks to hold this in place so I could quickly remove it when not in use. I could only get the two rear locks to line up. The two forward locks were to close to the sides of the cargo box so I decided against. I went with two fasteners made for the speed lock system that came with a 6″ rail I got and replaced them with speed locks. They consist of a bolt, lockwasher, backing plate and, nut. See picture. I am going to buy longer bolts because they do not thread far enough into the nut for my liking. These fasteners I placed at the back two holes for the speed lock system. As for the U-bolts, I also had to buy longer ones because I kept the plastic deck for the speed lock system mounted to the rails. I put the U-bolt on the angled bar so they came up through the outside edges of the cargo box in the middle. See picture. Yes I messed up when I drilled but I will fix the holes with JB weld. With all the fasteners tightened down the cargo box is good and secure. If your like me, I was hesitant about using the speed lock deck because it is made out of plastic. But after I watched a video on YouTube I changed my mind. They attached rails on the front and back of a machine with each rail held in place by two speed locks on each side. Then using straps attached to the rails, they hoisted the entire 4wheeler off the floor. I think they are strong enough for this application. After mounting the lounger on my machine I go on it and tested out the seat. It felt like I was leaning/sliding forward. This is because the speed lock deck has a slight slant to it which is not the fault of Black Boar. The seat of my machine is under the cushion on the lounger. Since it is only held on with quick snaps I will remove it an see how that feels. When I grabbed the handholds on the lounger I felt uncomfortable because my arms were too far back. I am 6′ 2″ tall so I am sure that had something to do with it. This was just made for someone smaller then me like a young child. I know people use these so they can carry an extra person on their machine to go riding even though it was not designed for that as stated in the product description. It is my opinion that if the extra person is an adult not to do it because they will more the likely be uncomfortable. However, if you have young children not old enough to have their own ATV it is perfect. This reminds me of that saying. “A family that plays together, stays together”. In closing I wanted to say I gave this product 5 stars across the board. It does everything I wanted and as the manufacturer states. I really like the look of it on my machine. Yes I had an issue mounting it on my machine but I found a solution. There are a lot of people that have had issues and have written reviews here. Some of them had really good ideas so read them before you buy so you understand exactly what your getting. If you are looking for something like this that fits perfectly with no issues, buy from the manufacturer of your machine. That is if they even make it. If they do I guarantee you will pay a lot more.

So far I’m happy with the initial quality, design and strength of the cargo seat. I was a little disappointed that the storage lid does not come with seals but that was expected as it was not advertised. The true test was to see how installing seals would work out , which was straight forward and everything aligns for good seal compression. I haven’t installed it yet but its not much different from my other storage seats so I do not expect any issues. Some reviewers commented about cheap mounting hardware however it looks fine to me and no different from any other cargo seat hardware kit I’ve used. The u-bolts look a little shorter but that’s good for me as I usually have to trim them when installing on my Suzuki King Quad 750. As for the lid latches, I know the the bungee cord latches will fail at some point but there’s access holes on the inside to easily install new bungee cords.

This rack box has all the features I need and a build quality that feel like it will last. I installed it temporarily by drilling pilot holes through the box and my wheeler rack, and then zipping in some self-tapping metal screws. After a long ride one day, I did notice that 1 of the 4 became a bit loose. I’ll be revising my mounting method to use the supplied U-bolts at some point in the near future. However, it *did* function just fine, and held securely with an adult passenger while mounted with only the metal screws.
As for the features and usefulness of this item, I was specifically looking for something that could *comfortably* carry a passenger (primary concern), as well as hold some extra stuff for a longer ride (secondary concern). The way the handles are designed on this make it very comfortable and secure for a passenger- both adult and child passengers had no problem hanging on during trail rides. The seat cushion has ample padding and provides lasting comfort. The only improvement in passenger comfort and security that I could suggest would be to have grab handles vertically mounted, more in a “joystick” type configuration. I’ve never seen one of these rack boxes that has handles like that, but if I were to design one, that’s how I would do it.
– One recommendation on passenger comfort- this should ABSOLUTELY be used with foot pegs or pockets. Both my adult and child riders felt like it was harder to ride without anything to brace their feet against. I even took a ride in the passenger position and found that I felt pretty insecure without anything to brace my feet against. All of my stability had to come from my arms/wrists, which is definitely *not* a comfortable way to ride for any length of time. Do yourself (and your passengers) a favor by combining this item with some sort of passenger foot holds!
One thing I’ve wondered is: why is the center storage compartment to dang tall?! I’m not sure what you could possibly stack up so high that you’d need all the headspace that the center tray has, but I suppose I’d rather have it oversized than undersized.
