I had bought a couple of the “off brand” rotopax brackets and decided I wanted a locking bracket and to try the official Rotopax brand. The quality is much better. I love the way the locking spinner mates up with the bracket and am considering replacing my other brackets with this same one because of how much nicer they are.

The locking mounts work great, they don’t move at all during driving. They’re very easy to pull off and refuel. The cans fit nice and tight and they were easy to install on my bed rack.
Worth the price.

UPDATE: A lock has seized in the mount and is unable to be removed. The key is also unable to be removed. The lock has been predominately stored in my garage and not exposed to salt or snow. It has been lubed but that’s not going to help. On the cylinder, one of the two locking tabs does not fully retract: the defect is mechanical – poor casting or machining. I now have a fuel 3gal rotopax that cannot be accessed and used mounted to my vehicle. If I needed this on a trail, I would be stuck. I have to use a drill to remove the lock in order to undo the mount. I don’t plan to pack a metal bit and drill in my off-road vehicle.
Conclusion: these are unreliable locks that will leave you stranded and expensive to boot.
Original Review: Well, it works to hold and lock the rotopax in place. But for the price, this was a real disappointment. Chiefly the problem is the lock cylinders. (1)(a) Keys: There is no economy in functionality by purchasing multiple because they cannot be rekeyed to the same key. Dumb. (1)(b) Sticking/freezing: The locks are also untreated to prevent sticking and I’ve found them prone to quickly sticking (locked and unlocked) when temps drop. Weather is below freezing here last night (~14F) when I pulled two rotopax fuel cans from our uninsulated, attached garage (temp between 40-50F at the time), with mounts and locks, to put on the vehicle (mount bases are always attached to side of racks). The locks immediately stuck in the key-inside unlocked position in the air. These are less than 3-4mo old and treated to generally mild Tennessee weather and stored in a garage when not in use (25/30 days per month). They’ve not been exposed to snow, sleet, or salt before and are not left on the vehicle so they get rare rain (only during trips if at all). I was unable to remove the key in the suddenly frozen lock, I’m back to using the mounts like the non locking style but at considerable extra cost. I didn’t bother trying the other as this was a warning that if I lock the cylinders into the mounts with fuel, I may not be able to unlock them right now, defeating the purpose of carrying extra fuel (the obnoxious compliance driven white flame mitigation device in the neck prevent using a mechanical siphon to transfer fuel with the rotopax mounted in place).
Other design and construction features are also underwhelming but not as problematic as the locks: (2) Anodize: on one mount the anodizing has already faded to a browner shade of black while the other remains black, indicating an inconsistency in the UV-proof nature of the dye used in anodizing process. (3) Threads: the threads of the mount are not rolled and feel very rough as you turn the handle. A bit of antiseize to lube this up makes it better. For the price you’d expect rolled threads that turn smoothly in the aluminum mount, or at least prelubed threads.
Bottom line: A very disappointing product due to the lock’s inability to be keyed alike and prone-to-stick nature. Overall, you’d expect a lot more attention to this as lock failure prevents use of locks or worse, prevents access to your own fuel.

I was off-roading for three weeks and not a problem what so ever. I had full fuel and water tanks attached to spare and had no issues w locks.

These installed easier then I figured and keep my gas where I want it, in case I need it.

Simple device, Just works well

These work great, and come with all hardware to mount. Only issue I have is the locks after awhile do not work smooth. I have to fight to get them unlocked. May need to lube them up somehow.

I like the item very much but I had to buy the back plate separately so the entire ensemble cost a bit high. And the central bolt holding the parts together could have been a bit longer, and I’m using the standard 2 gallon tank only. A bit stretched.
