This bridge was way too tall and held the strings too high.

I purchased this violin bridge to replace the one that broke on my son’s violin. For other non-musical parents out there, just know that this bridge will need to be sanded down and “fit” to your particular violin by a luthier (of course, for an additional fee). I, unfortunately, did not have the privilege of learning an instrument at a young age, so I was not aware of the process. The bridge is great quality, though!

    Fine for a cheap violin.

Obviously bigger than the old bridge on my 1/8 violin. I am not sure why. In the picture, the one on the left is the broken one from my old violin, and the one on the right is this product.

I hope the seller can give me an explanation. Do I need to file it and make it into the right size?

The bridge is very thick. You need to sand it down a lot.
The bridge is of not the right size for a 1/2 size violin. Find instructions online and chop it to get a better shape.
But for the price, I won’t complain.

It does take a little woodworking to fit the shape & height to your instrument. This is a good product, just be aware none will likely be drop-in replacements.

This worked well for my son’s beginner violin and was reasonably priced.

But it’s been looking well built in it’s baggie for about a year now.
