Sylvia Woods is the expert on harp music especially for the new harp player. Excellent book and still a beginner so have much to learn.

This is a book that is for lever harps. F# C# and Bb are used in most of the music. Very nice arrangments.

Sylvia Woods never disappoints! Love this collection. If you’re familiar with her other Irish collection, this book is a little more difficult. There aren’t two versions of each song. They titles are different than the other Irish book. Lots of 6/8 and 9/8 time signatures. Fun to play!

This book is slightly more difficult than the other book but this has a very nice selection of music. I got this book about a year after a I started playing my harp and it helped me because it was challenging then, now I play all these songs fairly easily. It has really made my interest in Irish music grow. I highly recommend this for anyone who would like to play Irish jigs or reels.

Irish Dance Tunes for All Harps by Sylvia Woods.
All of Sylvia’s harp arrangements have a “high playability” rating with me. Believe me when I say this because I have looked at, and purchased a lot of harp music over the years. No one can arrange for the harp the way Sylvia can! This book is a perfect example of being able to make playable complicated Irish jigs, slip jigs, reels and hornpipes for those of us who are not “professional” harp players. This traditional music gets all of our collective toes tapping. Two introductions are included to help the novice better understand the nature and spirit of Irish dance tunes. I have had a lot of fun, and challenge, from the pieces in this book. It also includes one of my FAVORITE AIRS, Carrickfergus.

These tunes are fun and arranged very well (I’m a huge Sylvia Woods fan) but I had not expected the challenge of playing Irish dance tunes! For a beginner I definitely recommend her Irish melodies book first.

If you play a lot of Celtic music, this is a great collection. There’s quite a few popular tunes and some not so popular, which I like very much. This collection is more in the intermediate range that some of the other Woods collections, and there’s only one version of each song.
