Tengo un djembe africano, y el parche viejo era casi igual, plastico transparente y suena como los tambores Egipcio, puro dumbek. Pero este parche Evans salio mejor de lo que antes. Este parche es muy flexible y fuerte, puedes estirarla mucho, aun es delgado. Requerde que los djembes africanos se estira hasta el maximo, y yo lo hico con el Evans tambien. Sus tonos son excellente. Los altos (la orilla) son muy abierto, agudo y corto. Puedes tocar delicado o fuerte, todo translada con mucho detalla y presencia. Los bajos (en el centro) levanta las laminas de la casa, son puro subwoofer. Es por su elasticidad!
Ahorita si creo en la tecnologia EVANS!!

It’s a 14″ snare-side head. It does what it does. Not much to write here. Evans is quality equipment. I installed it, tuned it, and never saw it again. It tuned well and didn’t break while I was installing it, although I’ve never broken a drum head by installing it. You don’t pay much attention to snare-side heads for good reason – they’re just there. It works. No problems. I used the 300 series. I don’t put much thought into the snare-side. The Evans 300 series is typical and works in almost any situation. I paired it with my Evans Power Center batter head.
Mind you, I bought this head because my existing Evans 300 snare-side broke. It broke during a move however, not because I abused it or it failed.

I have a 13-inch Sound Percussion snare (not the very best).. I’ve been messing around with it, trying to get a good sound from it using the stock resonant head. Unfortunately it ended up breaking. Because I got Evans G2 Coated batter heads for all of my drums, I wanted to get an Evans resonant head. I found this one, looked at the reviews, and was convinced to get it. I don’t regret it at all.. I popped it on as soon as I got it and started tuning trying to get a good sound. I didn’t have to do much. I was done with it in about 10 minutes (max) and got a tremendous sound. A nice pop. Just how me like it.. I definitely recommend this head to all drummers.

Some people have written more extensive technical reviews than mine, but essentially, the 300 is an Ambassador clear challenger if that means anything; I prefer a Diplomat clear which is akin to the Evans 200. Of course it sounds great and improves even a so-so snare drum. The unexpected blessing was it was formed with the new 360 technology–a real plus–as was the batter head.
I am rapidly becoming an Evans purist (sorry Remo).
Buy it! If it sounds crummy, it’s likely the drum or a “key to snare drum” error. Mating the Evans Power Center Reverse Dot and Puresound snares can also give it a nice boost.
P.S. The boxes had all of this really great drum head info to buy more stuff (silly, I know).

I’ve been a drummer/percussionist for most of my life and I’ve tried several different heads.
I was a Remo guy, an Aquarian guy, and even an Attack guy for a short while but all of these heads, though great seemed to be missing something, or have caveats that I had to live with. If I wanted a big sound, I couldn’t have great projection, if I wanted great projection, I couldn’t have bottom end and if I wanted durability, I had to sacrifice tone. It wasn’t until I saw a great local band with a HUUUUUGE kick drum sound, that I found out after asking, “try these Evans heads”. I did, and I haven’t looked back since. These are some of the best, most easily tuned and durable heads you can get. I use these genera heads in combination with G2 batter heads and I get an awesome, huge tone with just the right amount of attack and bottom end. (tuned correctly of course.)
This has been my go to bottom snare head since the 90s. If you want versatility and ability to get a nice fat snare sound, pair this up with some Pure Sound thirty strand snares and you’ll have one of the best snare tones around and still have a nice sensitive, reactive snare drum.
