Best sounding snare I’ve not only ever owned, but ever heard. Easily worth at least $200 more.

This snare is well constructed and sounds amazing. The snare throw off is adjustable on both sides which i found to be a nice touch. This snare may sound a little “dry” to those not used to it. I recorded with this drum and the sound engineer was so impressed with its sound that he is buying one for his studio! Very crisp attack. The finish is awesome as well.

I have this snare and love it , It is one of my favorite snares and made extremely well. Has a heavy shell but beautiful finish and hardware. It sounds remarkable and has a slightly dry hit but crisp and loud. I play it for all kinds of music especially metal but even though it is not as projected like a steel shell it can handle it and keeps the sound a bit lower and punchier. I would think recording or anyone wanting a less of a metal twang or buzz as they hit it from the springs would enjoy it. Everyone likes it and the way it sounds over my others. I may try the black maple S.L.P soon also.

I cannot say enough about the sound, what an amazing sound! Crisp attack, what an awesome sound! Beautiful hardware and outer shell. This snare really added to the overall sound of my kit – the best sounding snare I have ever played. It will go with me everywhere!

Just picked up this drum last week and I love it. I’ve never seen a more beautiful snare drum and the sound of this drum is phenomenal.

It comes with stock “made in China” versions of the Evans G1 and Hazy 300, and even with these stock heads it sounds great. Crisp and powerful but still very sensitive.

    Update:
I’ve been playing this snare for several months and I still cannot say enough good things about it. If I could afford it, I would have Tama make an entire kit to match this one snare drum. It is beautiful not only in looks but also in sound. I’ve been using a Remo CS Coated batter and this is the perfect head for live performances.

As many have stated, a “Bubinga” wood instrument for under $400 is simply unbelievable. I get the exact “Splat” that I was looking for.
