I’ve owned the DW 9000, the pearl eliminator and I got these about 6 months ago. They are my favorite pedals. They give you speed to play the fastest of metal and still have a decent weight under your feet. They feel lighter than the 9000s but slightly heavier than my pearl eliminator a belt drives were. You also have the ability to customize them 3 different ways. They come standard with the chain on but you can purchase straps or direct drive links to switch the chains out with. It used to come with the straps but it doesn’t anymore. I purchased the straps and it gave it a lil lighter feel. Great pedal. It can do it all if u can.

  3. Daddy. Drummer. Designer.

The speed and natural fluid motion of this – out of the box, mind you – was so surreal! I could not believe how amazing this pedal responded to all I threw at it! I took it from some Bonham style jazz kick flutters to Slayer inspired double assault and then on to a nice funk rhythm and back again.

I made NO adjustments from the moment I put it together (other than proper foot spacing adjustments).

I only wish I had the ability to afford this sooner than I did… it is the best double-kick pedal I’ve ever tried (I tried TAMA and PEARL top of the lines at the local music store)

If you can afford it and are teetering on if you should buy it or not … I was the same and have NO regrets!

Great pedal– smooth, responsive, with a decent amount of weight behind it. You can also switch out the chains for nylon straps which are included. This pedal can compete with DW5000’s—in fact I actually like these better, they are easier to control. Solidly constructed, and well worth the money.

I love this pedal! It has so many customization options I can’t imagine any drummer not being able to dial in a perfect feel with these. Smooth, fast, and extremely well built fir the price. I can’t wait to try them with the direct drive attachment.

The Mapex Falcon double pedal is fantastic! For a production level hardware piece, this is built extremely well and performs flawlessly out of the box. Its a little heavier in feel than say an Iron Cobra but it is not at all sluggish and has tons of power behind it. I play extreme metal, rock, jazz, and theater music with these pedals and they excel at all applications.

The best part about this pedal is the adjust-ability and the choice to switch drives. I have the chain drive (default), belt drive, and the direct drive which are all great. I am partial to the direct drive which is fast and fluid, but also more controllable than say an Axis, while retaining power. The Falcon beaters have the choice of two wights 10g and 20g (or zero if you like super light feels), which is such a great idea. I personally love the standard 10g beater feel, as it is both powerful and very fast.

As with all mass run, under $600 double pedals, the drive link for the slave could be better. Also you have to make sure to oil up all the parts on the slave side with some regularity since it starts to squeak after heavy use. I play in three bands and a theater group so this thing definitely takes abuse…but is still holding up strong! If you are looking into other pedals in this price range (Iron Cobra, Eliminators, or even DW 5002) I would strongly encourage you to check out the Falcons. Mapex is one of the most underrated brands in the industry that is making great equipment at great prices. I’ve owned Iron Cobras, Speed Cobras, DW 5002, DW9002, Eliminator Powershifters, Axis AL2, Axis A21, Trick Dominators, and Trick Pro 1-V’s…honestly, I keep coming back to these. Highly Recommended!

This started out great but after removing it from kit to kit a total of 20-30 times the threading on the clamp mount stripped out, making the pedal essentially useless. I have owned Pearl, Pacific, and DW pedals and gigged with all of them and was much harder on them than this pedal. Also I have only had this pedal for 8 months so this is pretty disappointing.

I purchased this unit used and am unable to get a replacement direct drive part. There are not any replacement chain drives available anywhere either!
