It’s a great stand. What made me buy this over the plethora of $90 stands, was that the clamping mechanism on this stand is made of metal. And the other stands in videos, just seemed to creak and make noise when you put any amount of torque onto the bike while you were working on it. This stand doesn’t have that problem. It’s solid.

OK, so as other have said it’s a significant outlay and having a stand already that I’m unhappy with thought I would give this a go. I’ve always been very pleased with the Parktools in the past.

The box it came packed in was excellent and no problems there. Packaging was great and did it’s job.

The stand needs some assembly and when I read the instructions yes they were comprehensive but the terminology was new to me (even as an engineer). However there is a very good short You Tube tutorial and was brilliant. I only made one change which was to put the round headed bolts on the outside of the leg of the stand rather than have the nut on the outside face. Other than that assembly was fine.

In use it’s absolutely brilliant, stable and great to be able to have height and orientation adjustment. One reason I wanted this bike stand is for bleeding my brakes in the future and being able to rotate to get rid of any air bubbles in the pipes. Once the bike is clamped it’s clamped no fear of it coming loose or wobbly.

It’s certainly a sturdy stand and being able to fold into a reasonably small footprint was very helpful. I also like the fact that I will if needed be able to buy spare parts.

I should have bought this stand years ago. My previous Kestrel stand was OK but this knocks it into a cocked hat. Pleased with the investment and I’m sure will make maintenance of my bikes much easier.

I use this stand to maintain my hybrid bike and my wife’s Townie and it fits and works very well. It is surprisingly stable and really makes bike service a lot easier for an old man. I like the fact that the legs fold up and it can be stored in the corner of my shop but yet it deploys quickly and easily. Kind of a pricey purchase for me but well worth it.

This stand is very well made and is a pleasure to use because of it’s well-thought-out design and heavy construction. I feel like the oval steel frame tube is what makes it so functional. Park Tool specified the perfect gauge and diameter of tubing for sturdiness without making the stand ridiculously heavy.

One of my bikes is an all-carbon e-gravel bike in X-Large and I would not want to clamp the frame in the clamp for fear of fracturing or causing micro-cracks in the carbon while working on it. It does clamp the solid carbon seat-post just fine but the bike will have a nose-down attitude unless you rotate the bike and clamp the stand’s pivot tight to hold the bike level. While this works, it can be a lot of stress on the seat post and seat tube that it may not be designed to take. This is a testament to the strength of the stand, I’m just not sure I want my bike to be under so much torque while wrenching on it.

My recommendation for carbon bikes is to either clamp the seat post and leave the bike in a somewhat nose-down attitude where it naturally wants to balance, or do what I did, spend another $150 on the best bike stand accessory ever, the Silca Hirobel Frame Clamp (Google it). This clamps in the Park Tool clamp horizontally and allows the top tube of the bike to cradle on two soft pads. I know it sounds like a lot of money for minimal functionality but it’s a must for carbon frames and I would consider it a good purchase for aluminum frames as well. It also makes it easier to mount and unmount heavier bikes from the stand.

The other nice accessory I bought that increases the stability of the bike on the stand is the Park Tool handlebar stabilizer, HBH-3. It’s $50 but much nicer and more versatile than the bent wire holder that Park Tool also sells. It’s very well designed and I use it between the handlebar and the head of the bike stand which holds the handlebars from turning as well as stabilizing the bike on the stand a bit.

I know this seems like a lot of money to spend on something that merely holds bikes so they can be worked on, but it takes all the tedium out of cleaning, upgrading and maintaining a bike. I can justify it by the money I DON’T spend by having the work done at a local bike shop.

The Park Tool Bike Stand is just as good as I thought it would be with no big disappointments. While it’s not sold as a travel stand, it’s easy enough to break down small enough that it’s practical to throw it in your car if you want to work on your bike somewhere else and are not otherwise cramped for car space.

There is so much I like about this repair stand but I’ll hit the highlights.

1.) This is legit heavy duty, it was able to hold my Lectric XPedition which is a heavy cargo e-bike without a single issue, the cheaper ones I tried first would either release at the holder or start to bend.

2.) It looks nice, while not all that important the blue is a very nice shade of blue

3.) Setup is easy, once its built there is nothing you need to do.

4.) Raising and lowering the stand is easy because the screws tighten with your classic pinch clamp and holds firm.

5.) The clamping mechanism is easy to use and spins nicely, you can crank on this hard to ensure nothing budges.

6.) It folds nice and compact and is easy to store.

Things to keep in mind, when unfolded the footprint is pretty large to be able to spread out the weight so you need a decent space when using this.

I know people will see the price and think its not worth it, it is, I have tried the cheaper ones and they are nowhere close to this one. This will last you a lifetime.

After going through a couple of cheap repair stands and cursing them with each use, I finally decided to break down and spend a little extra money for a Park Tool. I have to say I don’t regret it. The thing is very solidly built, stable, and the clamp is the most reliable and easy to use I’ve ever owned. Worth the extra money in my opinion. Wish I’d bought one long ago.

I finally got tired of my cheap work stand collapsing or tipping over and invested in a quality Park Tool unit. It is fairly heavy and very stable. Assembly was a bit fiddly, but can be done in about 30 minutes. Park provides a good YouTube video to guide the process. Overall, very satisfied with my purchase.
    After using the stand for a few weeks some other thoughts;
    Pros
-Extremely stable and well built; this is likely to be the last repair stand you ever buy.
    Cons
-with great stability comes great weight. More of an observation than a con I suppose, but it is a chore to move around if you don’t have a permanent spot for it.
-the clamp sticks when being revolved. I contacted Park about this and they sent me a new set of attachment cones. Park recommends that these be sanded prior to installation and this does seem to help.
After some use, still very satisfied with the product with these minor caveats.

My fatbike is 35 lbs and this stand is extremely stable with it. Exceeded my expectations. I’m glad I invested in what I consider to be the best option.
