Andrew Garland –
I picked this as a first tenor mouthpiece after a year on alto and many years on flute. It was a perfect choice for me a super value. It’s free blowing, has a nice solid sound, and since it’s a Yamaha, you know that it’s going to be well made right out of th box. These are also really versatile. You can play jazz, classical, pretty much anything. It seems to project pretty well too, though I haven’t tried A lot of beginners start on a 4C. The 4C would be a better choice for someone brand new to playing. I went the 5C because I can bring plenty of air already.
I’ll probably upgrade this after a few months on tenor, but I’ll definitely hang on to this one as backup. It’s a nice player.
Client d’Amazon –
Ordered from Cosmo Music, which turns out to be a store I frequented when I lived in Toronto. Inexpensive item, but they shipped fast, delivery was fast, and they sent me a free hat!

As always Yamaha delivers. as a beginner mouthpiece you’d have to really hunt for a better deal with such build quality

Trapshooter –
A good move up from the Yamaha 4C mouthpiece for the Tenor sax with a 2.5 reed. Inexpensive and sounds great.
Kenneth Smith –
If you buy a cheap sax go ahead and get one of these starter mouthpieces those that come with your cheap sax are horrible.
Troy Shagena –
4c is easier to blow quieter.
Okapi –
Decent Yamaha mouthpiece. Came as described.
marcus carrillo –
I needed a cheap concert pitch mouthpiece for class because my other one broke and this mouthpiece was delivered fast, and had a good sound. Great mouthpiece for such a cheap price!

I have the Yamaha 5c on my alto and love it. I recently purchased a 1968 conn shooting star tenor and added the 5c to it as well. Love the Yamaha mouthpieces. Great value. I use a legere American cut 2.0 on my tenor and a legere signature series 2.0 on my alto with these mouthpieces. Highly recommend especially for the beginner to intermediate player.

This is a very easy to play mouthpiece for my tenor saxophone. Instantly I knew it was better than the stock mouthpiece that came with the sax. I don’t understand why all sax manufacturers don’t include one of these Yamaha mouthpieces with their instruments. I have one for both my alto and tenor and as a beginner I appreciate the ease in which I can produce a fine tone with both the 4C and 5C. Sure there are better mouthpieces out there if you want to spend between 2 and 4 hundred dollars but for $30 these Yamaha mouthpieces are a great deal.
