I chose this trombone beginners music book for my Grandson, who lives in another state, as a birthday gift. It was one of two items that were listed on his Amazon Wish List. He loves music and plays the piano and the guitar. He also plays the trumpet in his high school Concert Band and Marching Band. He told me he wanted to learn how to play the trombone. A short time after receiving this book, he told me he was enjoying playing the many varied songs in it. A few months later, I was visiting on a night he was performing in a holiday school band concert. I was dismayed because I couldn’t find him in the trumpet section. All of a sudden, my daughter pointed out to me that he was now performing in the trombone section! I believe that this introductory music book of “First 50 Songs…” helped my Grandson to succeed in learning to play the trombone so very quickly!
    Highly Recommended!

I have played trombone since I was 10 but about 10 years ago I had to sell it to keep my babies under a roof. I just recently got a horn and this book is a great one to get myself back in it.

This book has a good number of songs that aren’t too difficult to play. I really like the classic big band songs that are included, as well as newer songs. Some songs like ‘Marie’, and “I’m Getting Sentimental Over You” are absolute trombone classics.

I, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, Diana Ross, Willie Nelson, and my favorite local dance band, all perform the melody for “All of Me” almost identically, especially for the first few measures. In contrast, I have yet to find anyone singing or playing the melody in the first few measures of “All Of Me” as written in “First 50 Songs You Should Play on the Trombone.” Thus, I can not trust the melody for songs in this book that I don’t know. Worse, had I not known the first song in the book, learned it as written in the book, and played it for friends, I likely would have been mortified by the response from whose who were familiar with the song as sung by leading leading musicians. Thus, I returned the book.
