The pieces are fairly well known, and I like them. The in the backing track sounds pretty decent, but part you play in the demo is played by some synthetic sound. So you get an idea of the pitch and rhythm, but not the performance like vibrato.

I have an older copy of this book with CD. I like the HL online accompaniment. It can slowed down making it easier to learn

This book is a great tool for me, since I am getting back into playing saxophone after many years. The songs are easy enough to ease me back into playing while I relearn the fingering. There is no CD for the play-along feature. The download code provided will download the tunes into a file that does not seem to be supported by any app on my Windows 10 computer. I give 4 stars for the book and 0 stars for the useless music download. I do not recommend buying this book if you are mainly interested in the play-along feature or if you are an advanced player.

Intermediate notation, very good backing tracks, a good book to progress through from a few easy to play tunes, working through to a little more testing tunes.

I originally got this book for myself a few years ago. I recently bought a couple of copies for guys in our band, because I knew they would like it One for alto & one for tenor.

Unlike other instruments, play-alongs for trombone are a bit thin on the ground. This book is ok but clearly a number of the backing tracks come from the Saxophone Guest Spot series. Hence occasionally you’ll find your trombone slide moving at an ungodly speed to keep up with some of the written solos (great fun!) on the plus side at least the backing tracks sound like a real band, well most of them any way.

This book has all the classic tunes you need to get started. I would say itโ€™s probably better if youโ€™re already playing intermediate to advanced music though. This is not for students.
