I have had gemeinhardt flute for the past eleven years and love it. Mine is a solid silver flute which I am not sure that this one is but I have to say I love and will always love my gemeinhardt. The gold plated mouth peice gives it a sweeter sound 🙂

Beautiful flute. The case and bag are very nice quality and the information they include is very helpful. We couldn’t be happier!

I purchased this exact model when I was in 10th grade in autumn of 2003 after starting on a Jupiter student flute in 2000. I didn’t realize it wasn’t a “professional” model at the time. I just knew I was desperate for an open hole flute and we finally had the money and this was the only one they had in the shop that day.
It is extremely easy to play and the sound quality is vastly richer than my student flute. No idea if that is due to the silver head joint, the gold lip plate, or the model of the flute itself (with b-foot) itself. Lower notes are easier and fuller, higher notes are crisper. I had the hole plugs out within a few hours after realizing I didn’t need them.
If I were ever forced to sell all my instruments, I woud sell my Höfner 500/1 1962 model violin bass guitar before I would sell this flute. It is full of joy and god it just feels good, even after several years not being played. It is my precious and it just doesn’t seem to have degraded at all in the past decade. Still sounds and feels and looks exceptional.
And it’s gone down in price. I paid $2,200 for mine.
I reccommend trying different flutes and headjoints in a store to see which works best for you, really, but if you know you like the brand or are just desperate, as I was, this really is a top choice.

I bought this flute when I was in high school as a “step up” flute., but it has been disappointing. I’ve since bought a much higher quality instrument from Haynes. The repair person I use has complained about the low quality of Gemeinhardt construction, its poor tuning, the fact that the key beds are not level, making re-padding it (a standard maintenance procedure) really difficult to get a great sound. It probably really is a step up from a generic middle school model, but it is by no means professional. I know many professional flute players and not a one uses this brand. Try Pearl, Haynes, Powell, Muramatsu, Miyazawa, and other top brands if you want a super high quality instrument.
