These are, without doubt, the the best strings I have had on my Epiphone Hummingbird.
B. –
These are my favorite by far. I’ve tried quite a few other strings, (Elixir, D’Addario, Martin, Cleartone, JP, etc), but always come back to these. They sound really really good, but do require a bit more care and feeding compared to hex core strings. It’s important to crimp the ends prior to clipping the excess string, as the round core will slip if you don’t. Once it slips, you’ve got a dead string. No bueno. However, with the proper care, these strings will reward you greatly.
Tonally, they are very balanced, with neither excessive brightness nor mellowness. They start out fairly bright with lots and lots of overtones, but after a day or two will focus down to the fundamental while still readily producing overtones, but more as support.
String feel is very good. The round cores seem to bend and fret easier than hex cores of the same gauge. They also hold pitch incredibly well. Once strung up and stretched correctly, they are rock solid. Only very hard playing will take them out of tune.
I can’t say much about corrosion resistance, as my hands are dry and generally friendly to string life.
These are my favorite strings. If you’re looking for something a little different than the standard hex cores, give these a shot.

Have a 00028 copy (Sigma SF28) 24.9 scale. Fwiw, is a little more warm and bassy than Martin OM21 I had at same time (sold it). It can play quiet and pretty powerfully and I enjoy 12-54 strings on it for some tension. But these Sunbeams are lower tension at that gauge and werent satisfying for me. They were lackluster. The 13-56 gauge may work for what I’m after. But I’m going to try nickel bronze next from recommendations.
The positive is they are very comfortable! Could be just right for lighter playing, and as transition for electric players.

I like you have tried all brands of acoustic guitar strings. DR Sunbeams (light gauge .12-.54) are the best to my ears and fingers. A brighter phosphor bronze string that lasts a long time and gets better sounding with age. They defy typical uncoated string decay.
Like them so much, bought a set for my other acoustic, an all hog dread. Same result. These are the best strings out there.

For a standard American solid core phosphor bronze string these are excellent.I have alot of acoustic guitars and use DRs mostly.I like the Dragon Skins- they’re coated on my performing guitars but most Sunbeams on my others.I use their 80/20s on my Martin D18.

Bought these strings for my Gibson Hummingbird after reading positive reports from other Hummingbird players. I have a buddy who is good at swapping out strings. He reported that the G and B strings were dead on arrival, meaning they had no life in them. The other four strings were fine. So my friend pulled a couple of D’Addario strings from another package to complete the job. I would have returned the strings if it hadn’t been so much trouble to remove the good strings and wind them back into the package. I was extremely disappointed all the way around. I guess the final sound — the blend of Sunbeam and D’Addario — is OK. But the experience doesn’t inspire me to purchase Sunbeam strings again.

Very easy on the fingers and don’t require a lot of strength for its gauge. The sound is amazingly bright yet balanced. For people complaining about dead strings, it’s written in red letters in the instructions that cut after after the strings are wound. These strings bend really well for the gauge. Going to be my go-to strings for now.

Ein sehr sauberes Klangbild, wunderbare Einzeltöne und beim strumming sehr warm und klar. Sehr schönes Sustain, es macht Spaß damit zu spielen. Kaum ein Nachstimmen erforderlich nach dem Neuaufziehen. Ich kann sie nur wärmstens empfehlen, sie sind ihr Geld absolut wert.

DR Sunbeams are a great choice when you want a brighter sounding round core string, particularly with rosewood guitars. They also have great intonation and they are priced right. I use mostly DR strings with all my acoustics and rarely have any issues with dud strings – ironically broke my first string in years stretching a brand new string yesterday.

First off, I hate to write a negative review about this company, as I LOVE their Rare strings. I tried the Sunbeams, and luckily bought 2 sets, because it took me 8 strings to get 6 to work. It wasn’t until I’d installed a string incorrectly, destroying it, that I found the instructions printed inside the box. I still don’t know what they were talking about, and I won’t buy these again. They are 2x as much as Rares, they don’t sound noticeably better or have any advantage I can see or hear, not for my style of playing at least. I’m back to my Rares and they sound better than ever.
