Angelo B. –
Very good stand for flugelhorn. It’s stable and does the job well. Not over priced too.
Earthling –
A good stable stand that’s well made with quality finishing
It’s a little ‘overbuilt’ relative to others, but I like that. The tripod base and post are made of pressed steel sheet, assembled with steel fasteners, and it’s all coated with what appears to be a polyvinyl finish that softens the surface, making it less likely to mar brass. In addition, the edges and corners of those parts have been dehorned.
The tripod base is wider than most and rests on firm rubber feet that cap the legs. The two legs that can pivot are locked into place by a detent ball when extended, and depressing that ball allows you to fold them down. The detent locks also prevent the legs from folding if bumped and the stand from tipping over as a result.
You’re able to fit the post’s configuration to your bell by adjusting the mandrel position. It’s fiction fit to the post and adjustable when you release a tensioning cam lever at its base. I think the mandrel is primarily intended to prevent the horn from wobbling and the bumper should support the weight of the instrument. The friction fit feels tight, but would likely loosen eventually under the constant weight of an instrument.
I use this stand for my Flugelhorn, and you can see from the pic that it provides several inches of elevation off the floor, which I like. The horn is a bit easier to reach, but more importantly it’s away from feet and other floor level dangers. And it’s stable at that height, which is an advantage of the stand being a bit ‘overbuilt’.

I was skeptical, but this stand looked well built. I have arthritis and thought it would be nice to take a few steps out of setting up to practice. My Soprano Sax does fit on the stand well. I adjusted the sliding part a little bit, and now there is no resistance. The whole thing can be tipped over with enough force, but I imagine anyone who wants to put their valuable horn on a stand will at least attempt to keep from bashing something into it. Be careful around children and dogs. I’m very satisfied.

sturdy and adjustable for many types of instrument
Amazon Customer –
Keeps my Sax out of the way and minimize the risk that I will accidentally hit something with it, or drop it, damaging it in the process. I also like the fact that it folds up nicely for ease of transport.
Earthling –
Great sturdy soprano saxophone stand that gold up easily to transport. It has an adjustable base that can move up and down to fit the sax. Very stable.
Thomas –
Exactly as described and does what its supposed to.
Reyh –
This thing is sturdy and super-secure. I’m never worried about my precious instrument toppling over– this isn’t going anywhere. Love the cute yellow travel bag, too.
We also have other Hercules stands for a Bari and our Tenors, and they are also absolutely rock solid.
The yellow and black design of Hercules products reminds me of an old-skool Tonka truck, and that makes me happy. 🙂
Buy this, and you’ll have one less thing to worry about on stage.

The locking mechanism is not strong enough from keeping the saxophone in place if a little extra pressure is applied downward. The rubber top is not held in place other than by a pressure fit and therefore may come off inside the barrel of the saxophone. The stand is sturdy enough that it will not tip over with the saxophone in place unless a excessive amount of side-ward pressure is applied.
