SKB ATA XL Stand Case – I don’t know what the case is like on the inside because I can’t get it open. Was this product supposed to come with a TSA key? If so, I didn’t get a key – at least, I didn’t get a key outside the product. I’d write this as a question, but I didn’t see the opportunity to do that. If someone can help me out with getting the case open, I could write a more detailed review.

This case is really excellent. I was about to buy a less expensive case that would have carried much less, but I figured, you know what, why not buy this monster, well, we call it “The Coffin” because you can fit two people in there very easily. Not to be morbid, just trying to give you a sense of proportion, but yea it does kind of look like a coffin. Off topic, but yea, it’s great.

I’m in video production, not music, when we do a job we can easily put 5-10 light stands in there and most importantly 2 tripods as well which we used to have to make a few trips to and from the van to do; now they’re just stored away in this case. Just beautiful.

Sure, once you have 100+ lbs of equipment in there, you need a strong person guy or lady, to lift it up and navigate it through hallways, up and down stairs (which becomes a two person job), but wheeling and lifting this case in and out of the jobs we do is far more preferable than making 10+ trips to and from the car.

And you look way more professional using this than having everything loose or even in a cube on a dolly of some sort, just my humble opinion.

This thing has been a life saver. My entire kit (minus drum shells, obviously) goes in this case. Hardware, rug, seat, stick bag, kick pedal, all of it. I have heavy duty DW 5000 hardware, so this puppy gets heavy, but I only have to make one trip with it and I don’t have to worry about my gear being lost. The best feature besides the size is the tie-down straps. These make sure all the gear is secured and doesn’t get damaged while loading and unloading. I absolutely LOVE this case. SKB wins again.

Excellent case, very sturdy and easy to roll. bought it about 3 years ago and use it multiple time. Still holding. My son needed a case for his Yamaha Tyros 4 for travelling. I looked for a case but nothing I could get fast. This case was designed for drums hardwear. The mesurement worked for the Yamaha Tyros4 arranger. We lined it with memory foam and strapped it with the belts. Travelled overseas and back in perfect conditions. Excellent!!!

READ IF YOU WANT THIS CASE FOR A LOT OF HEAVY GEAR. (6+ DW5000/9000 Stands)

This is a great case for a lot of LIGHTWEIGHT gear. Great internal straps, 3 latches etc etc. BUT it feels flimsy. The hinges for the lid are unusually small considering the size of the case, the material is relatively thin and the handle and wheels are mounted to the case with… plastic?! I was excited to load up a literal ton of gear into this thing and confidently bring it everywhere… but after putting my heavy drum hardware in there and lifting it… it just felt like it was about to break…. did it? No… but I don’t feel like I trust it. I believe for this price I should not be having to second guess whether or not it would fall apart. TO CONCLUDE – I did not test it thoroughly, these are only first impressions. I personally am looking for something that is built like a tank and can hold up through the toughest situations on the road… so I am returning and looking elsewhere. For mic stands, racks, and other gear that is on the medium/light size, I am sure it will be perfect.

Nice size, tons of room for 4 std roll ups and marketing material. Nicely built. Plastic is kind of thin, but should hold up to constant shipping. Great product.

I use this for videography equipment and its proven to be an excellent, one-stop solution for centralizing my gear to one case. It holds all of my stands, extension cords, reflectors, booms, tripods and even a set of 2 – 500 LED panels. I would be careful, however, not to overload it and adhere to its weight limit since it is not reinforced anywhere.

I was so excited when it came. It was big. I wanted it for my drum accessory stands so that I could leave them relatively the same length I use them so I don’t have to adjust so much. So big was good. But it is so big I even had extra room – but didn’t need or use. It took up the entire length of my Ford Explorer. But it was not designed well for its length. I had nothing to grab on to to assist in getting it in or out of truck. I currently use a Rock Bag on a steel support on wheels. I have had for 20+ yrs but the cloth wore out and seam tore. I could easily pick it up
