Mono M80 Vertigo Acoustic Guitar .
As with all Mono cases, the product exudes quality. There’s plenty of room for my Taylor 812ce, As you can see in the pics, even with a strap on. For an old man like me it’s also a lot lighter to carry than the hard case. I left my foot in the one pic to give an indication of the depth. My shoe is a size 9.
Putting guitars into Mono bags, with the top entry, can take some getting used to, but when you do, you don’t look at other bags. I now have 3 bags and 2 sleeves. All excellent.
As with all these reviews and questions, please look at which bag people are talking about.

Well built, nice looking and fits my PRS McCarty 594 double-cut perfectly! The cradle that secures the neck is brilliant and protects the head and tuners. On a recent flight from Miami to LA (carry-on), it was still perfectly in tune.

Bought to take my bass guitars to gigs. I transport a variety of instruments (jazz bass, precision bass, les paul bass, 12-string bass) without any issue. Love the thick “foot” on the bottom that gives drop protection. I’m a big guy and would prefer a little more shoulder room in the backpack straps, but i can’t fault the case for that. LOVE the top loader design, and the neck support (headlock) keeps everything from bouncing around. More than adequate space in the front compartment for cables, etc. Pricey, yes, but very high quality. It does sit up pretty high on your back if worn like a backpack, so you need to be careful when walking through doorways if you’re over 6′ like I am. Not really much you can do about that, as it is a bass case. Those guitar guys just have it easier. 🙂

I’ve played for churches all my life and some studios projects here and there. This case is currently being used for an ACOUSTISONIC JAZZMASTER and G&L Tribute Legacy. Thats a heavy guitar. I was considering buying the mono Sleeve for about 2 years but I was always on the fence about the storage capacity and sturdiness. I decided recently to retire my ovation acoustic and upgrade to an ACOUSTISONIC JAZZMASTER. BEST DECISION EVER! The JAZZMASTER came with a sexy gig bag case that seemed to somewhat be modeled after this Mono M80 Vertigo case BUT, IT WAS NOT COMFORTABLE OR PRACTICAL to me. The straps didn’t have a chest/waist strap and were too close on the neck causing chafing. I also have a BODYGLOVE gig bag that is amazingly solid but it was just WAY too heavy but it was only $150 when i purchased it about 10 years ago.
WHY do i love this case?
Pros:
Light but not too light

STURDY
Shoulder strap spacing and height on the bag.
-This ensures that your guitar’s neck/headstock isn’t constantly slamming into doorways.
-Little to no neck chafing.
-Chest strap helps ALOT with comfort when walking to venues/destination. I play in a city where parking is limited and sometimes, i have to walk a block or two with a guitar or 2 and a 10 stomp box pedalboard in a case.
Without a tick attached, when the guitar is removed
Cons:
STORAGE- the storage in the front is a bit tight. Given the amount of gear I carry regularly, I would prefer to have more room in my case. Even for headphones and drumsticks.
Price-this bag plus the tick brings the price to $340. Thats a lot for a case.
Fit
– I hoped that my Jazzmaster’s base strap knob would fit in the slot at the bottle but its off by an inch.
-The left side zipper also comes close to the body and risks scratching it.
I love Monos cases and use a large mono pedal board. I would recommend this vertigo, and their pedalboard cases to any guitarist that’s serious about their craft and protecting their gear. Hope this extremely long review helps.

A little background from me…. I am probably older than most of you that are looking for a nice gig bag… I am most certainly considered a ‘senior’ .. Guitar Major at Berklee School of Music (1960’s). So I have had a lot of cases and guitars of all types over the years, from Anvil on down. I needed a light shoulder carry bag to fit my Ovation T5Z, and my Ric 360-12 for mostly local work. Although I own two of the ‘other’ competing brand cases, I decided to try the Mono Vertical M80 because of there many good reviews … I have not been disappointed. Both of these model guitars fit nicely with good neck support as advertised. These gig bags are VERY good and the workmanship is excellent … You pay for what you get.. They are a little on the expensive side. I am a bit disappointed that they don’t make them in the USA. I did ask and they were honest… If American small business want to be supported at home, they should not ship all their manufacturing overseas to save money, then charge a premium price, enough said on that. I was a bit hesitant about the top loading feature, but I find that it is the best feature of the case … LOVE the Top Loading… Quick and easy in and out. Zippers-excellent, material-excellent, straps-well built and comfortable. As others report, the bottom has extra padding and great support. The side pocket works nicely. We all want a quality gig bag that is rugged and light. I am guilty as many others a trying to put too much crap into the outside pocket, the size is fine for the strap, an iPad and some strings. Because of the very good neck support, you’ll need to take your strap off the guitar and put it in the side pocket. No big deal, but I thought I’d mention it. Only thing I have seen on other reviews that I might disagree with is I would NOT use this case to ship in luggage…Some advertises like to sell you these as ‘Case’, it’s a ‘Gig Bag’… I suppose that helps justify the price tag somewhat. If you’re overseas and change to a small plane and have no choice but to ‘hand it over’, then you would stand a decent chance of not getting destroyed, because they well built with as good of protection as you will find in a soft sided bag. Putting it with checked luggage would not be my first choice… It’s a very good case (gig bag), it is still soft sided… I first bought one for my Taylor T5Z and liked it a whole lot, seemed to just fit the Ric 360-12 nicely, so I did order a second one… VERY happy with these gig bags. Every bag or case does not fit every need, but if you need a nice soft carry bag (case) with good protection, that is light but durable, I am very happy with mine.

OK elephant in the room – these are not cheap. But they are great value. I use this exclusively now for taking any guitar out of the house. With the exception of a 335. Super robust more convenient than a hard case and makes standard gig bags feel like dust covers. I’ve also got a double guitar version for gigs when I might take 2 guitars but with hindsight I think 2 of these would be more convenient. I keep it loaded with accessory kit, cleaning cloth, spare strings, multi tool etc. Highly recommend this to anyone who takes their guitar/s out of the house.

This has been a fantastic case that has protected my bass for over 2 years. It is extremely well made. I attached a Tick 2 to it, and I guess I loaded that up too much, and as I was putting the case back in my truck’s backseat, the tick got caught, and I ripped a connection point for the tick.
I emailed pictures to Mono, and they covered it. No questions were asked. They shipped me a new case.
In my opinion, when a company stands behind it’s products like this, they make customers for life. I will be ordering more Mono products because of this great experience.
