yeah, all are along the same line of rts. enough of a change between the versions to make it worth while. Each game has its piculiarities that can throw you. For instance in the Arabic challenges the Fire Ballistas fire by themselves, where as the Legends campaign, you have to tell the ballistas what to do.
Good variety of difficulty. You can make the game as easy or as hard as you want to. If you are just out for the gaming experience, you can make a round go for 2-4 hours, pending on your difficulty settings.
StrongHold 2 has a lot more to do with castle life (such as catching rats and removing people dung) were as Legends has a population cap and specialty characters via Honour gained.
All in all a nicely rounded game with variety between all the versions

The graphics aren’t as good as Microsoft’s AOE series or as pictured on the cover box. Gameplay is reversed with selection and movement of units using the same mouse (left) button, as opposed to left and right one, respectively. No help with topics during gameplay, with difficulties emerging and therefore a need for a detailed strategy guide is recommended.

6 Games (+1 HD Remake) – I had to be honest, for the low price of 12 dollars – I was expecting there to be some sort of catch.
But there wasn’t – All of the games function perfectly (better than previous version I’ve owned, even) – Completely unopened or altered, packing was unscathed. Generally, I was very impressed with the quality, it was like new – or even better than new in some cases.

Arrived in very good time…and in very good shape…brand-new, as far as I could tell.
“The Crusaders” is the best of the four games included. You can even design your
own defense/offense. For example, I put a small gatehouse next to a ballista tower,
so the enemy couldn’t get to the ballista engineers (no stairway). Then I added fire
braziers on the ballista tower to create fire archers–twice as effective. Then I put
crossbowmen on the small gatehouse to fire on swordsmen and knights who got
past the ballista tower. Twice as accurate and deadly!

Absolutely love the collection, I am an avid gamer and have been playing the series for years. The best thing about this collection is that you have all of the content on a single disk which makes it so easy and hassle free to download and play instantly. Stronghold is a castle building strategy game that is filled with awsome features to explore and conquer. You will not regret buying this. If you are looking to play Online Multi-Player you might be dissappointed as FireFly as of 2014 has shut down the servers for SH2 and SHLegends, Fear not however as there is still a way to play with your friends by downloading something called gameranger!, All in all it is a great buy priced right and well worth it if you are a gamer who loves to build massive empires and destroy your opposition then this is for you!

Loved Crusader, and love the challenge of Crusader Extreme. Easy game play, nice graphics, and sensible functionality. Stronghold and Stronghold II are garbage. The graphics are nice, I guess, but the gameplay is frustrating – really not fun. Crusader and Crusader Extreme are simple and action packed. This is just my opinion, but you can’t go wrong on the price…who knows, maybe you’ll like all them as much as I liked the Crusader editions. Three starts only because I thought Stronhold and Stronghold II were no good.

I already have SH Crusader and SH1, so I bought this for SH Crusader Extreme, SH2, and Legends.
SHC Extreme was alot of fun, new AI, the ‘extreme’ options at the top right can come in handy if you go 6vs1(you).
SH2/Legends was fun; nice graphics and new units, but the AI was kinda lame compared to SH Crusader. I had to make my own boards w/ pre-set invasions to really enjoy repelling borders and making my own sieges. Even if you make an enemy super rich, they attack w/ like 6 spear-men and 2 catapults, ad nauseum. If AI in crusader had the resources the AI in SH2/Legends did, they’d have an army as long as the board, on your doorstep in about 5 min to own you.
Summary: SH2/Legends: New units, nice graphics, fun, but AI is very lacking. I loved the map editor in SH2.

This game is a classic. It’s one of those games you won’t play for months but then when you get back into it you can’t stay away. It’s really though out with good graphics, good user control and all in all just a lot of fun. It doesn’t cost much, don’t need an internet connection to play and really one of the best games out there if you like this time period. No matter how many times you play the same level it’s something different.
It’s def worth a try and if you don’t like it, it’s only a few bucks and you can probably recoup it on ebay.

Ordered this as it contains a full set of the Stronghold games and a good chance to play them as I never have. First off. I’m running Win 8.1 and even though there are concerns playing some games on 8.1, I was able to install and play each one of these games without a problem at all. The thing I liked most is that they play without having to have the DVD inserted in the drive. It means you can play simply by clicking the shortcut and off you go. All played very well and I didn’t need to adjust the resolution on any of them even though I have a 1366×768 set up default. I found the games to be entertaining and easy to get into. A really good buy for me.
