I purchased these to replace non-GFCI outlets in my kitchen during a remodel. These are less than half the price of the ones at big box stores. I put 2 of them in using 12/2 romex.

Here’s how that went: I have a home built in roughly 1890 and as you can guess it has lath walls. The electric service has been updated, of course, to 240. During the remodel, I looked at every outlet in the kitchen and decided to place a few more in better spots for the new cabinets and counter. The circuit that I had on one wall was 20 amps, so I wanted these as outlets above the counter. With the lath wall, it was a ridiculous effort to cut new holes for the outlet boxes. But it was managed. I put in smaller boxes so as to not cut super big holes in the wall. Installing these in small boxes is a major challenge. All GFCI outlets are fairly big in the back, and these are on the larger end of that scale. I chose to use the back channels to put the wiring in, because I tried bending J-hooks in the romex to fit on the side screws, but that was almost impossible when using 12/2. I am sure it’s actually possible, but I tried, and it was very frustrating. The side screws are recessed and even backed out all the way, it’s very difficult to get the wire under the screw. Anyone who has replaced an outlet with a short amount of wire coming out of the box will know this frustration. I left over 6 inches, but had to cut them back because there wasn’t enough space inside the box for the outlet and the wiring (I ran the outlet in the front of the circuit so I needed both line and load – which meant two sets of wires coming into the box). I managed to get them in using the back install method, but it was cramped and took a while of manuvering the wires. I suppose that with a large enough outlet box, it would be super easy.

Overall, they seem to work nicely, and with proper space, should be a fairly easy install. They are big, so keep that in mind when planning the fit. One star docked because the side screw spots are difficult to fit 12/2 into.

This GFCI plug was easy to install, and the instructions were good. The plug is holding up to daily use and it was a good price for the value. The plug fits very well in the pre-existing hole.

The media could not be loaded.

Bought because it was $5 cheaper than hardware store and save myself the 20 minute drive. I received it next day as promised. Went to unscrew the line screws (they come tightened down) because I don’t use the push in. It took most of my strength to unscrew them (185lb 35yo male). When I finally did, they fell out after only a few turns. I noticed the screws were very short compared to standard outlet but was still able to screw them back in try to make it work until..,I tried to unscrew the neutral. It was also very difficult to unscrew. When I got it, it fell out quickly and it too was extremely short. However, with this one, I was not able to screw it back in. The plate that it screws into was rattling around and the screw wasn’t long enough to go back into it. So I’m returning it. I have no idea how this thing got so many stars and reviews (I guess everyone uses the push-in method to attach the wires??). Also, I’ve owned multiple home me and have been installing theses for years.
One last thing to note: the writing on the back is upside down compared to how it should be attached the wall. If you were reading the back and then flipped it horizontally (twist your wrist left or right), the third hole would be on top). Not a big deal but something to note.

Was replacing an old GFCI had a chipped button. After everything was hooked up, it took a hot minute to get this guy in the wall. Unsure if the cabling was just stiff or if the size of the outlet caused the struggle. But now that it’s in, I never have to struggle with it again. It works well and does its job.
