I recently picked up this Acer USB C Adapter and it’s been very useful for my MacBook. The ability to separate the hub into a USB C to HDMI adapter and a 4-in-1 hub is incredibly convenient. It prevents any blockage of my other ports, which I really appreciate.
This hub expands my two USB C ports into six – featuring an HDMI port, a 100W PD charging port, and multiple data transfer ports. The 4K UHD output is crystal clear, and I love mirroring my display to an external monitor with ease. Plus, the fast charging feature means I don’t have to worry about battery life while using other functions.

This mini hub works great on my 2019 Mac Book Pro. 95W pass through charging and the HDMI connection works fine. Just like any of these hubs that connect to the USB C ports of a MacBook, I’d be careful moving your laptop around with the hub attached. Small and slick, great for travel.

Ein sehr nützlicher USB-C Adapter, der einige weitere USB-Anschlüsse bietet sowie ein USB-C auf HDMI Adapter beinhaltet.
Geliefert wird der Adapter sowie die Bedienungsanleitung. Der Adapter macht einen sehr hochwertigen Eindruck, da die äußere Hülle vollständig aus Metall ist. Die Auswahl an Anschlüssen ist ebenfalls sehr gut: 2x USB-A, 2x USB-C und 1x USB-C mit Power Delivery. Mit dem zusätzlichen Adapter ist ebenfalls ein USB-C auf HDMI Adapter enthalten. Weshalb der HDMI Anschluss hier aber auf der linken Seite und nicht der Front Seite ist erschließt sich mir nicht ganz. Die Anschlussgeschwindigkeit ist bei allen Anschlüssen (außer dem PD USB-C Anschluss) 5 Gbit/s, was USB 3 Geschwindigkeit entspricht. Der Power Delivery Anschluss bietet gar keine Datenübertragung.
Beim Anstecken des Adapters leuchtet eine blaue LED im Inneren auf. Der Adapter ist zwar für Macbooks konzipiert, kann aber natürlich auch an jedem anderen USB-C Gerät verwendet werden. Lediglich der HDMI Adapter benötigt einen USB-C DP fähigen Port. Man beachte dass wenn der HDMI und der normale USB-C Stecker zusammengebaut sind, der Abstand zwischen den beiden USB-C Ports wirklich genau auf Macbooks abgestimmt ist und daher bei anderen Geräten oft nicht stimmt.

This dock/hub has a nice quality feel to it with an aluminium body and sleek design that suits the MacBook well. Doing away with the short cable in favour of mounting directly to the MacBook’s two USB-C ports is a neat idea especially if using it on the go as it can be left fitted. The HDMI portion can be separated for use as a stand alone USB-C to HDMI adaptor which is handy. I don’t however recommend using the larger portion of the hub without the HDMI portion attached (despite this use case being shown in the product listing images) as the entire unit is left hanging from the single USB-C connector right at the end, undoubtably putting excessive load on the USB-C port if you have lots of devices plugged in. Personally I will be keeping this hub joined together so the load can be spread across two USB-C ports.
Obviously this hub isn’t going to fit if you are using a thin shell case on your MacBook, and will also need removing if you carry it in a sleeve.
There is a good selection of ports that will cover you for almost all scenarios, including PD 100W charging to still permit USB-C powering of your MacBook. Priced at £30 at time of review this is fairly priced given the devices specs and build quality.

I love this adapter. Every other one I have tried blocks the native MacBook Pro charging port with the premise you will use the compatible Thunderbolt USB C port for power/charging. But they don’t offer the same charging capacity as the native charger. So when I saw this I HAD to get it and try it out. Well done Acer, this has become my new *favorite* USB C hub for my MB Pro! If I need an HDMI port, I can add the top portion which has it, if I don’t (which is usually) I can just use the bottom portion for extra USB C and USB A ports, and still use the original charger. Well worth the $26

I have needed an adaptor like this for at least three years. Thank you, Acer, for finally making one that works well with my MacBook Pro. I love all of the connection options I have in one small and light device. I have been able to eliminate three adaptors from my travel bag. I have not done extensive testing, but everything seems to work well and fast.

I got this for my MacBook Pro. This works very well for most circumstances, but there are some compromises. I have not tested every port to see its limitations, but my initial review is as follows.
The good:
• Two each of USB-C and USB-A ports
• A port for HDMI for easy connection to an additional screen
• This adapter is small enough to keep connected to MacBook when it is placed into most travel cases.
• Allows for multiple connections at the same time.
The Not so good.
• Only one port supports the power input USB-c connection.
• I had to remove a protective bottom case in order to plug this in and get it to seat next to the laptop. I will have to modify the case cover for me to use this adapter with the bottom case cover on.
Overall, I’m please with the ability to add peripherals to my MacBook pro without some convoluted system. The only other options would be an external junction box that is less portable but may suit your needs better if your case cover does not allow this attachment to seat up against the laptop frame.

This hub-adapter from Acer has been a very nice positive surprise. Although I mostly used USB-C hubs that are detached from the device, worrying there will not be a good design match for the Macbook, this one works nicely with my 13″ Macbook Air with M1 (the 2020-2021 model). As you can see in attached pictures, there’s only tiny gap between the laptop body and the adapter, and the port distance is perfectly matched, so attaching and detaching the adapter is smooth. File transfers from external drive in USB3 A port are similar to classic USB-C to USB-A hub, which means I’m getting max around 150 MB/s with traditional drive and 400 MB/s with SSDs. I think the limit is higher, I just don’t have faster devices. HDMI out works ok for my 4K 60Hz screen. The PD port was delivering same charging power as connecting the adapter directly. The ability to detach just part of this adapter, and make it basically super tiny HDMI adapter, is also cool. The finish and color is almost exact match to that of my Macbook, only slightly more blue-ish, but barely visible under normal cirmustances. Definitely recommended!

While it’s made for Macs, it works well with any similar product (like mine). Didn’t know Acer got into the dongle game, so wanted to give it a try. The unit can be separated as well (like shown) to still use the components. The only drawback is that this is pretty much only usable for laptops, or anything that allows a flush attachment point.
If you’re paranoid about USB-C attack vectors though, this product was made in China and supervised by a firm in Shanghai, so use at your own risk. Still a solid choice for your laptop.

I have a 2017 MacBook Pro that only has 2 USB-C ports. The problem is that all of my accessories, like my wireless mouse, use a USB-A dongle. I tried a single adapter, but always had trouble with the adapter either bending or coming loose. What attracted this to me unit is that it connects to both USB-C ports for stability.
It’s been very stable on the laptop, both using it on a stand and on my lap. All the USB ports work exactly as expected, including the ability to charge. It’s attractive and not too big. This has made my laptop so much more usable.
I’m very happy and would absolutely recommend it.

This hub is quite unique in that the upper module can be removed if I don’t need the HDMI connection. Its 100W power delivery input is very useful to utilize the USB-A and USB-C ports the lower module has and fully utilize the thunderbolt capability.
