Used a barrel jack to usbc adapter and a barrel jack “y” splitter to power both my retropie system and the led strip running off of it. The system itself has 75 rgb leds running stright off the pins from various hats. Plus the power consumption from the led strip. With those 10 amps i figured id be ok but the leds turned pink and my system cried a bit. Ended up buying the 5v15a for the little extra for a bigger led strand but this power supply with a cheap adapter will get rid of that pesky lightning bolt no problem.

The power supply is used to power a WS8212B LED strip and an ESP8266. At full brightness white color the strip consumes close to 5A with the voltage sustaining a little above 5V, Under these conditions the power supply brick becomes warm to touch. However, when we initially used the provided female socket adapter the adapter became hot and the voltage drop on the adapter connection was about 2.5V. That connector was radiating power like a small 12.5W soldering iron. In the end we cut the plug and connected the power supply permanently to the prototype board.

I bought this for a simple, small, WLED setup with an ESP32. The power is not stable. The ESP32 will not stay powered, or the LEDs flicker excessively. I swapped another brand and the ESP32 is rock solid. Very disappointing.

This worked for what I needed it for. For people who are complaining, when you get a power supply, give yourself plenty of headroom. This may hit 15 amps, but it should not be run at that the entire time. I was able to run 256 wrgb leds with this, and power the arduino that was controlling them. You never give an electronic just enough power, unless you have some kind of buffer. This has been running in a school for nearly 2 years, and will most likely continue for the nest 5-10. This is a great value for the money, and for people complaining, you get waht you pay for.

So I needed 5v and 10 amps x2 and 5v 6amps for 3 projects, actually one, but couldn’t find 1 power supply that’s large enough and fairly inexpensive, but these were pretty cheap and had little plugs that implied they’d be good for DIY projects. So put first line together, 10 modules, each draw 1 amp when working and next to nothing when idle (measured). I plugged in the first module, couple flickers, then nothing, checked all wiring, attached an existing 5v supply from something else, everything lit up. Problem traced to the little dongle that split the power connection into 2 screw taps. Repaired it myself. -1 star. OK, everything is showing idle now, 10 lights. Tested each module 1 by 1. Everything works, so no problems with my wiring or any of the modules. Activated 4 of them, no problems. I did not check voltages at this point as I assume foolishly that 5 volts out of the supply with no load (tested while checking the first issue that I already repaired) would maintain level at 4/15ths of rated capacity. Activated 2 more modules, now showing 6 amp draw, but there are some odd flickers on the idle modules. Grab the multimeter again. 4.26-4.39 volts. Well I have 3, probably got a bad one. That happens.
So I switch. No lights at all. 4.11 volts. Since the modules step down 5v to 4.2 anything lower than that makes them not work. So one supply will operate 6 amps, one won’t handle 5. I haven’t opened the third, I may return that one. 2 that won’t hold just a bit over 1/3 their rated current, not good, at least for my application. May work well for something else. They seem stable at lower draw so I gave them 2 stars for that.
Later Edit: I did return the other 2, but because I modified the end on the other 1 I kept it. Well I needed another smaller 5v power supply with lower amperage. This works well in an application drawing less amperage and an uneven load, so it’s not complete junk. They get moved up to 3 stars. The little connector was perfect for the subsequent application.

I inadvertently destroyed the adapter for a Halloween prop I own. I contacted the manufacturer and they said this one on Amazon was correct and identical to the one I used. They were right. The prop works perfectly with it.
If you’re considering this power supply for usage, be sure the voltage, amperage, and wattage are all appropriate for use, and that the jack size is correct. If everything lines up, you should be happy with the purchase. If you pick this one randomly and it doesn’t work or fit, don’t blame the power supply. If you confirm all those points and it doesn’t work, THEN blame the power supply.

Buena calidad, funciona sin problemas. Lo recomiendo.

Compré la fuente de 5v y 8A, al momento de utilizarla para alimentar un servomotor ni siquiera pudo accionarlo, ademas de solo otorgar un amperaje de 3A

Description says that “It comes with a free female DC connector (5.5mmx2.5mm)” But it did not include one. Now I have to look for one. Boo

This power supply is reliably outputting the correct power 24/7 however the female barrel connector became intermittent and then ceased to function. I noticed slight melting of the plastic near the end of the connector, and undertesting i had to hold the connector together at a strange angle in order to get power.
Either the connector just has a poor fit or it melted ruining its fit. I used this for a maximum 60W LED strip, and the maximum load I put into the connector was about 3A and it would intermittently disconnect from my LED controller the closer i got to 3A.
I cut off the male barrel connector and soldered my connection instead and its working flawlessly and even pushed 6A in testing. So the power supply itself is good but the female barrel connector… not so much

This is a solid & substantial power supply. It is high quality & can handle everything 5V that you could need it for. To be honest, it almost feels like overkill for what I am using it for, which is just to power a strip of addressable LED lights that I installed around my daughter’s bed. It far exceeds my intended use for it & I’m sure it would yours too!
