Acmeenjoy Ice Cream Maker With Compressor, 2.1 Quart

I really liked the idea of making homemade ice cream without messing with ice and salt. Not fond of the idea of putting a big bucket in the freezer either. So, the only thing holding me back was the price for these types of units. Most of these are pretty much the same and probably come out of the same factory in China. So, price was the determining factor for me. This one was discounted to $180 with a $50 dollar coupon so $130 before tax. Nice deal. Was received in excellent condition. Let it sit for several hours for the compressor oil to drain down to where it belongs. (UPS left it sitting on its side on my porch). Washed all the removable parts. My wife prepared the ice cream mixture, and we were ready to start. I read the manual, however, when I plugged it in, I got a display of 00:00 and the mode button would not select the ice cream mode. The manual cautions about not turning the compressor on and off, so I did not want to touch the start button until I was ready to begin. Turns out the machine after being plugged in, quickly goes into standby mode and you do have to press start before selecting the ice cream mode and setting the timer. The manual also cautions about making sure the bucket is absolutely dry before placing it in the machine. That makes sense as any moisture on the outside will freeze the bucket into the machine and the only way to get it out would be to let your ice cream melt. Not good. One thing the manual did not say though, you must also make certain there is no water-moisture in the hole in the bottom of the dasher where it sits over the hex shape shaft in the bottom of the bucket. My ice cream turned out great, but when I went to remove the plastic dasher, it was firmly stuck. As in I had to spoon all the ice cream out of the bucket with the dasher in place and then rinse the bucket out with warm water to release it. This plastic dasher part is probably the weak point on this machine so use caution here and don’t try to force it. I have looked online and cannot find a source for replacement parts for this so a word to the wise. (Edit: I have made several batches and no matter what I try I can’t get the dasher to release until it thaws. Just have to live with it.) I left the timer at the default 60-minute setting, but the ice cream was done before the 40-minute mark and the rotation stopped. The ice cream was great, and I believe the machine will work well if care is taken with the somewhat fragile plastic dasher and therefore my 4-star rating.

This machine is super cool. I feel like I just bought a huge life hack because now I can make my own dairy and preservative free cool treats any time I want them, for a fraction of the cost of buying it in stores. What’s extra great about this ice cream maker is that your ingredients don’t need to be frozen beforehand. With most other machines you need to freeze your ingredients first, which is time consuming and means you can’t make your ice cream when you want it without some planning. I quite literally made a recipe that required my ingredients to be boiled first and despite the liquid being at boiling temperature when it entered, it came out as solid ice cream at the end of the hour. Just amazing. And it tastes SO GOOD. I also enjoy that the buttons are straightforward to use. You literally just turn it on and go.
What should be noted about this machine is the size. It’s quite large and heavy, so you’ll want to make sure you have the countertop or storage space for it. But that’s the only downside. It’s easy to clean and produces a large amount of the best homemade ice cream you’ll ever eat.

Our family used it a few times now and still trying to perfect the recipes for our preferences. But let’s be honest it’s ice cream and it taste great! Note it’s big and will need storage room to put it away until it’s next use.

The icecream maker is great not too big, not too loud there is some weight to the machine because of the comperessor so keep that in mind I didn’t find that a problem, the quality is good, it’s easy to use, and it works pretty fast. It takes longer to put your ingredients together than it takes to make the icecream it freezes pretty fast. I made French vanilla icecream which involves heating your ingredients on the stove first so once I got the ingredients taken care of which took time, and you have to cool it down first, it only took 30 minutes in the icecream machine so stay close to check the progress otherwise your blade could get stuck in your icecream if it gets too frozen. I like the fact that you don’t have to prefreeze anything ahead of time you can make icecream at a spare of the moment. Other reviews said it was heavy, your paying for a machine that does not require any prefreezing in order to have this it will require a compressor so keep this in mind. It is an investment just like buying a microwave. I love it.
