I was slightly skeptical when I purchased this filter, and wasn’t sure if there was any improvement. After roughly 500 miles on this filter, I decided to do as controlled a test as possible to compare between the AEM DryFlow and a stock Fram paper filter. I had driven approximately the same number of miles on a new Fram filter before installing the AEM filter, so all the variables in my road test were kept to a minimum. The road test was conduced on the exact same route with both filters, and I tried to be as conscious as possible to keep my driving style identical for both tests. The route included a few turns, stop signs, and several curves, and I encountered no other vehicles on the test. I also ran the road test without the AC on, as compressor on time can vary while driving. Road test was as follows:

    Fram paper filter: 29.0 mpg
    AEM DryFlow: 29.4 mpg

In the long run, this filter will be better for your engine and better for your wallet. As a side note, on a cached version of AEM’s website, they state that SimpleGreen can be used to clean your AEM DryFlow filter when it needs to be serviced. Keep this in mind, since AEM charged a ridiculous amount for their cleaning solution.

This fits perfect for a 2017 Ford Explorer Sport which will also fit the Platinum. We’ll see how it does in the next 15k miles and I also need to purchase a cleaning kit for it as well.

Buena calidad, materiales muy resistentes, se ve que es un producto durable. Se nota en cuanto se coloca una mejora en la respuesta del auto y el sonido del mismo.

It does what it is supposed to do, very easy to clean just tap on the ground to get most of the dirt out. Do not expect hp gains.

Hands down, The BEST air filter in the game! Out performs K&N, costs less, is more durable, and does Not require a BS filter recharge kit. As soon as I put it in the car I could hear a difference in the exhaust. You can hear the engine suck in air. You can feel a difference in the way the car reacts when you hit the throttle. And you notice a difference in throttle reaction. The car breathes the way it should.

So I am super pleased with the performance of the AEM dryflow air filter. I had a high quality Wix air filter in my 2015 Taurus SHO that is mostly stock with 72k miles. I wanted something less restrictive but I did not wanna spend $300 plus for a cold air intake. I put the AEM in Sunday afternoon, reset the trip computer and I’m averaging 25.2 to 25.3 mpg about 85% highway/15% city, and the throttle response is greatly improved (still some turbo lag but not as bad). I would recommend to any Ecoboost owner looking for better performance without breaking the bank. Side note, I’m averaging almost 500 mile range with a stock 19 gallon fuel tank.

I’m a fan of AEM DryFlow filters. They filter better than K&N, and don’t require oil, but they don’t filter as good as paper media. (There is a study of just how bad K&N preform, Google: “nicoclub kn vs oem.” It links to a study done against ISO 5011 preformed by Testand and just how poorly K&N performs for street use, since I know I’ll probably get bashed for this)

The main reason I like these is they are reusable and cleanable, and seem to be made well. I’ve ran one in all my vehicles for the past 6 or so years, and have never had a complaint. So, if you want a lifetime filter that is built well, and in a pinch can be removed and bashed against the ground to get larger dirt out if you are off-roading, or need a quick clean between taking the time to actually clean them, then these are a great choice.
