A bit pricey. However, this is a simple drop-in replacement for the stock air filter in a 2022+ (refreshed) Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3L. Zero issues with the installation. Note to avoid Mass Air Sensor (MAS) error codes: before restarting the vehicle, disconnect the Neg (-) lead for 30+ seconds then start the vehicle to have it “learn” the new air flow.

I never pay attention to gas mileage. But it feels and looks less restrictive thats the Original paper filter. Oiling wasn’t excessive. Seems to work good.

This filter paid for itself after its first wash. It is constructed with very high quality rubber that grips and moulds to the housing perfectly. The mesh feels extremely durable, and does a great job filtering.
I was concerned trying a dry flow filter vs. an oiled one, but I have had no issues at all.
I noticed that when driving gingerly and using cruise control, I am getting maybe a 5-10% improvement on gas conservation. I used to get 16-18 MPG, Now getting 17-20 MPG (in-town/country/highway). However, when you open up, this filter will give you the performance it promises, sacrificing MPG.

If you are reading this review on this product, you are probably looking to increase fuel economy on your Chevy Silverado and you have probably looked at a lot of online post with “Couch Experts” telling you that there is no way to improve your mileage without tweaking the control module/On-board control computer… While that is partially true, the control module uses a range of acceptable level for many engine variables. You absolutely can improve some of these settings without the computer making changes and this will improve fuel economy. This filter can allow more air volume in without the truck compensating for the change. I have a 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 with the 2.7 Turbo Max engine, and I drive approximately 350 miles a week and fill up about every 8 days or so. Over the course of 5 gas fill-ups I tracked my mileage and averaged approximately 19.3MPG; some weeks higher and some lower. Each week was basically the same driving, rural, city and highway, using the same gas from the same gas station and it was all the “summer blend”. After changing to this air filter; over the next two fill-ups I averaged 20.1MPG. At that point I also added a tonneau cover and that changed my milage to just over 21MPG. Over the last 5 fill ups I have averaged 21.1MPG. So, yes, you can increase air flow to the engine without the on-board computer compensating and your mileage will go up. You can also increase mileage by reducing drag. Every mile per gallon counts when prices are high…

Look at the difference. AEM says it all. Even the filter feel is beyond in quality. If it were a steak, I’d eat it. A filet to a flank is AEM to OEMhere.
Easy install, pull the negative battery cable for 30 sec then replace, fire up and let idle for 10 min. ECU has reset to drive by this point.
NOTICEABLE gain in sound, throttle response, acceleration, and power WITH street mode enabled (turn that dial located to the right of your steering wheel one click right ;)). It’s not a turbo BUT my 2019 1500 LT w/ the 5.3L V8 just became what it was built for, and Tommy likey!!

Trying to get a little more performance and mileage out of my 2020 Chevy Silverado. Looked at cold induction filter systems but hesitant to make such a significant overhaul. Then looked at the oil treated high flow filters and didn’t want to run the risk of getting oil on sensor or other parts that could be damaged. Ended up going with the AEM dry filter figuring that if it didn’t improve things, it’s basically a pricey version of the air filter already in place.
Only driven the truck a week with the filter in place. I’ve noticed a little boost in the truck grumble and a small increase in MPG around town and a noticeable increase in MPG on the highway. Throttle response doesn’t seem to have changed. Bottom line, the AEM will not turn your truck into a high MPG monster truck with a cool gutteral sound.
I can’t say going to the dryflow filter is a bust, though. Performance is a touch better with the added MPG and every 30K all I need to do is wash it out, let it dry and slap it back in place. With what the service department is charging to replace the air filter, being able to re-use the AEM makes the filter worth the cost. That alone is worth the price of admission. Strongly recommended.

I purchased this filter as my stock air filter on my 2021 Chevy Z71 Trailboss (5.3l) was dirty and needed replacing. I looked at K&N and a few other brands but kept coming back to the AEM due to user reviews. I will say I am very impressed with AEM! I put this filter in the day before I went on a 1500(roughly) mile round trip from NE Florida to very Northern VA and into WVA. On the way up i had to go to Tennessee to pick up my son from scout camp, so this trip was lots of mountain driving. AEM did not disappoint! I better acceleration going up the mountains and better gas milage on this trip than a previous trip to Northern Indiana (NEFL to Fort Wayne and then across to Valparaiso). Below i will compare the gas milage for you.

As you can see dropping this AEM filter increased the overall MPG for the truck. I know that may not seem like alot, but for the trip and my wallet that was a huge increase AND savings for my wallet!
