AEROBAND PocketDrum 2 Plus Virtual Electric Drum Set

Constantly needs to be calibrated. Like every 20-30 seconds. You’re playing there snare and all of a sudden it’s the floor tom you hear or a crash or nothing. Waste of money. Good thing for Amazon’s return policy. For a little more money you can get an actual kit. I really wanted this to work, but oh well.

 As a musician but not primarily a drummer, I picked up the PocketDrums 2 Plus to capture those moments when a beat resonates in my head and I can visualize the kit. These handy drumsticks have been a game-changer for saving musical ideas on the fly.

One of my initial concerns was latency, as any delay could disrupt the creative process. To my pleasant surprise, the PocketDrums 2 Plus performed admirably. While there is some latency, it is minimal and doesn’t significantly impact the experience. However, it’s crucial for AeroBand to continue refining this aspect. Given that timing is everything in music, improving latency further would enhance the product’s usability.

One suggestion for future iterations is to explore alternative wireless protocols beyond Bluetooth. This could potentially reduce latency even further and provide an even more seamless drumming experience. Overall, the PocketDrums 2 Plus has been a valuable addition to my toolkit, and I look forward to seeing how AeroBand continues to innovate in this space.

In addition to being a great tool for capturing spontaneous beats, the PocketDrums 2 Plus can also serve as a MIDI controller in a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). This feature significantly broadens its utility, allowing for integration into more complex music production setups. It’s incredibly convenient to lay down drum tracks directly into my DAW without needing a full drum kit, making the PocketDrums 2 Plus a versatile addition to any musician’s gear collection.

Interestingly, my son was also intrigued by these drumsticks. He has shown interest in learning real drums, and the PocketDrums 2 Plus provides a perfect way to gauge his interest without immediately investing in a full drum set. It’s a cost-effective way to introduce him to drumming, and he can practice without the noise and space requirements of a traditional kit. This aspect makes the PocketDrums 2 Plus not just a tool for musicians but also an excellent educational device for budding drummers.

There’s also an app with a game mode that comes with the PocketDrums 2 Plus, though I haven’t used this feature. The app seems designed to make practicing more engaging and fun, especially for younger users or those new to drumming. While I haven’t explored this aspect myself, it could be a valuable addition for others looking to add a playful element to their practice sessions.

In summary, the PocketDrums 2 Plus (with receiver) has exceeded my expectations in many ways. It’s a practical tool for capturing beats, serves as a useful MIDI controller, and is a great way to introduce drumming to my son. With some improvements in latency and potential exploration of new wireless protocols, this product could become an indispensable part of any musician’s toolkit. I’m excited to see what future updates AeroBand will bring to this innovative product.

We need to reset the sticks frequently. Even after frequent resetting, there were a lot of miss hits. The sticks gets confused with the Hi-Hats and the Crash, with the Snare and the Toms and so on. Every time I start playing, I get a lot of miss hits, this irritates me a lot and eventually I stop just after 4-5 mins. I have never been able to play this for 10 mins straight . Definitely not worth the prize. Generally I never feel bad for spending on musical instruments, this is the first time I feel that I have wasted my money on one such thing.

If this is the case for an intermediate drummer like me, then this would for sure note work for beginners. I recommend them to try their hands on a physical drum kit.

This can never be used on a party or a stage show, due to its miss hits. This could lead up to awkwardness on a stage, which is the worst night mare of every stage artist.

One of my children has been after me for a while to get them a drumkit, even though their room will in no way fit one. Go figure! 😀 However, this device has made everyone happy. It is very light-weight and portable, even for an electronic device and is very easy to setup. I love the fact that you do not need a phone/table to use it either, though the game/app that it comes with is great as well. To be clear, my son is just starting out with the drums, so in no way is this a professional review, BUT, he does love it and it seems like it would be a very close facsimile!

The material seems fairly sturdy and wireless as well, so far it has lasted a couple of hours on a single charge, which I’m sure is more than enough for most users. The foot pedals are easy to use/press and are very intuitive as well. Overall, this has been a very positive experience!
