The console is very nice looking. Beautiful grain and finish. But – the assembly was a beast to put together. The bolts are too close to the edge – making it very difficult to screw in and tighten. My husband – who is a carpenter – struggled with this – complaining the whole time about why anyone would construct something so awkwardly.
He finally got it assembled – but soon discovered that the console they shipped to us had 2 left facing doors – instead of 1 right and 1 left. This resulted in the knobs not aligning – with one being higher and at an angle from the other. It looks like a cock-eyed face to an otherwise nice looking piece of funiture.
I reached out to Amazon and they offered me a 20% refund. They also offered to pick it up and send us another one – but it was far too difficult to put together in the first place – and there’s no guarantee that the new one wouldn’t have the same issue. We opted for the partial refund and will try to find other handles to replace the cock-eyed ones we currently have.
Update: The company reached out to us and offered to send us a replacement door. They were very responsive, kind and accommodating. If it were a simple matter of taking a door off it’s hinges and replacing it – we’d take them up on their offer. But with this unit – there are no hinges. The doors have to be mounted inside the unit before the top is secured. It was far too difficult to get the unit together. My husband drilled holes into the door faces and we attached oblong handles instead of the knobs – to conceal the misplaced holes. It looks fine now.
I’d caution any buyer to first determine if the doors are correct prior to assembling the unit to avoid what we encountered. Overall – a beautiful, sturdy cabinet.

For a box that was heavy, it was nice to receive it without any damage. I liked the cherry finish. It is not the typical reddish finish, but a brownish stain with cherry undertone. It was very easy to put together and the pieces fit together very well. However the instructions are not the best. In fact the last step is out of sequence. Lay the shelf inside the unit BEFORE assembling the bottom piece. Then set the shelf in place with the shelf brackets after turning the unit right side up (it is assembled upside down). Otherwise you will not be able to insert the shelf through the doors after the unit is assembled. All In all, an excellent experience and a very nice piece of furniture.

We selected the Alterra to serve as a corner TV stand. It arrived very safely packaged with well-placed, tidy protective foam. All parts and necessary tools were enclosed. The table is very heavy, solid and well-finished. Assembly was easy following the simple instructions. I took the advice of another reviewer and put the center shelf into position prior to attaching the doors. The only difficulty comes from the shelf brackets which attach to the table from – they don’t fit the holes tightly and turn and fall out easily making it difficult to get the shelf seated. But once that is done we were presented with a substantial, handsome, well engineered table. No flaws in the finish, the doors work smoothly, the shelf is secure, and it is just right for our application. A quality budget friendly piece of furniture. Don’t be afraid of buying one.

OK, it went together easily except that the shelf stuck out too far for the doors to clear. So, I asked that question here and one person mentioned that I probably had the shelf in backward. The notches should be in the BACK and not the FRONT like I had them. It was clearly shown in the instructions but the dummy in my brain didn’t notice the illustration. I’ll blame that on not having my glasses on. Besides, I normally would consider instructions for a piece that only has 8 parts to be considered a suggestion…..DUH Once I was informed of the correct way to put it all together, it went together perfectly. It’s well made and actually real wood! I love the cherry finish even though I don’t much care for cherries with the exception of cherry pie. Real cherry pie mind you, not the frozen stuff.
Edited to add…….With all the wires and such plugged into my AVR, it’s a challenge to fit everything in and close the doors. I had to buy some right-angle HDMI connectors to make it barely fit. Another 1/2″ depth would be better. So, if you’re considering this cabinet, measure how much your gear needs before you order. I have a Denon S750H AVR but I don’t know if it’s deeper than other brands or not. Had I done the research first, I probably wouldn’t have bought this cabinet in the first place. But, it IS a well-made piece of furniture and looks great.

This TV stand seems well made for the price and was very easy to assemble. Size was perfect for my 39″ TV. Two minor complains: the espresso color was off from what was expected/pictured, had more of a dark cherry tint. The doors would benefit from a plastic washer/spacer at the bottom pivot to raise the door up a bit. It slightly rubs on the frame. My supply of miscellaneous washers provided a cure.

This is a solid piece of furniture, well beyond what I expected from a flat box. It is indeed 100% solid wood, no particle board even on interior or back pieces. It went together easily and looks fantastic (I bought it in the cherry finish). If I could have found this locally I’d gladly have paid more because a small tv cabinet like this is almost extinct as tv’s get ever bigger. If you’re looking for a small quality tv cabinet you won’t be disappointed.

I’m great at putting thing together but to put the shelf in before you attach the bottom. Does not fit in between the doors and into the unit. REmember the unit goes together up side down on the floor the top first up side down then the sides then the back,then the shelf then the bottom, turn it over with out the glass doors so you wont break the glass the last step is the glass doors. looks great.

We are very please with the strength, ease of assembly and beautiful construction of this TV stand. It is the perfect size and can hold all of the auxiliary equipment that is attached to the flat screen TV inside of the cabinet where it is safe and dust free.
